SHAH ALAM: Some 65 per cent or 13 of the total 20 high impact projects planned under the Selangor First Plan (RS-1) 2021 - 2025 have entered the implementation stage, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

During his speech when tabling the mid-term review of the RS-1, Amirudin said the high impact projects include the construction of the Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam (KSSA).

Other high impact initiatives under the state's five-year development plan include the Jalur Lebar Industri Selangor (Jalin) programme, the Sabak Bernam Development Area, Southern Selangor Integrated Regional Development, Selangor Government Data Exchange (SelGDX) and Selangor Implementation And Performance Monitoring Unit.

"To date, 10 per cent or two of the total high impact projects are in the design and planning phase while five projects are in the concept and initiation phase," Amirudin said.

Estimated to be fully completed by 2029, construction of the KSSA project is divided into three phases, with phase one involving the building of a new main stadium, an outdoor sports area, a parking plaza, and an integrated transportation terminal.

The second phase would focus on developing commercial and cultural facilities, including a sports wing, a youth wing, a theatre, retail outlets, and a recreational area.

The final phase would add further infrastructure including a hotel.

The 20 high impact projects, said Amirudin, were among 262 programmes plan under RS-1.

Amirudin later told reporters that he was aware that some of the programmes planned under RS-1 were slow in execution.

"Of all the programmes planned (under RS-1), 20 per cent of them are almost complete while the remaining are in the implementation phase.

"However, we notice that the implementation of some of these projects were slow since it is in the design and other stages.

"We will look into these programmes and make improvements to the implementation of the projects," he said.

Tabled in 2022, the RS-1 plan involves projects and initiatives worth a total of RM212.44 billion.

The plan will focus on stimulating economic growth, empowering the people through welfare programmes, ensuring sustainable development as well as efficient, transparent systems and services.
