KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently appeared before the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) signalling a significant departure from traditional governance norms, said PKR's Sim Tze Tzin.

Sim, who is a PAC member and Bayan Baru member of parliament, said the rare encounter underscored Anwar's commitment to transparency and good governance, marking a stark contrast to previous administrations wary of PAC scrutiny.

"PAC is usually feared by government officials and gives headaches to Ministers. But, on Thursday morning, the committee had a special guest, our PMX!

"It's very rare for PM to meet PAC. This has shown that PMX is a different kind of leader, who endorses good governance, transparency, and the good work of PAC," he said in a Facebook post today.

Sim said committee members also conveyed to the prime minister that when PAC meets, they focus on the nation's interests and set aside their party affiliations.

"This is why PAC committee members work together as a cohesive team. Since our appointment, we have produced over 13 reports, with many more to come.

"Our meetings are lengthy and demanding, sometimes lasting from 10am until 7.30pm.

PAC also conducts field visits to remote areas in Sabah and Sarawak to investigate issues such as dilapidated schools, visited paddy fields in Kedah, and inspected failed projects in Langkawi."

He added that the committee's diverse backgrounds enable them to delve deeply into various issues and uncover instances of corruption, mismanagement, and leakages.
