KUALA LUMPUR: Some 15,772 complaints on road damages have been reported through the Works Ministry’s MyJalan application as of May 31 this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.

The Works Ministry said this comprised potholes, faulty traffic lights and street lights, signboards and public facilities, among others.

Of the number, 4,392 complaints (27.85%) were for roads under the Works Ministry with the remaining 11,380 complaints for roads under the jurisdictions of the local councils, Rural and Regional Development Ministry, Agricultural Department and more.

The Ministry said 3,528 or 80.33% of the 4,392 complaints for roads under the Works Ministry have also been resolved.

“All complaints on roads outside of the Works Ministry’s jurisdiction have been channelled to the related departments,” it said in a written reply dated Wednesday (July 17).

The Ministry said some 961,991 potholes have also been identified and resolved between 2016 and May 2024.

It added that road users can also monitor the status of their reports through the MyJalan application.

“The Works Ministry through the Works Department is committed to ensuring roads are always safe by ensuring routine maintenance works are carried out year-round,” it said.

The ministry was responding to a question by Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (PN-Langkawi) who asked about the number of complaints received through the MyJalan application and the number of cases resolved.
