KULAI: Calls for justice for Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the strategic direction of Umno for the upcoming general elections were among the key issues highlighted by the 189 party divisions that met over the past month.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the proposals, including the call for justice for the former Umno president raised by the delegates, have yet to be discussed by the party's Supreme Council.

Umno, he said, is currently reviewing the resolutions raised by the division members nationwide.

"God willing, the Resolutions Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, will scrutinise all the resolutions starting next week.

"We at the headquarters are gathering all the proposals," he said.

Asyraf added that several Umno divisions are still holding their meetings and have requested exemptions or special approvals to do so.

"Next week is the final week for divisional meetings involving Jempol and Cameron Highlands.

"Once these meetings are concluded, we will review all the resolutions.

"At this point, I can't provide a detailed account of the issues raised by the divisions," he said.

Asyraf nevertheless said it is clear that Umno's direction for the upcoming general elections will be one of the main topics discussed during the party general assembly scheduled to take place from Aug 21 until Aug 24.

"Additionally, there is a strong sentiment among the divisions for justice for Najib," he said.

On a related matter, Asyraf confirmed that there has been no discussion at the Supreme Council level about reverting to the old election system for top positions in the party election.
