PUTRAJAYA: The pay raise announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should motivate civil servants to continue giving their best service to the nation, says Cuepacs president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat.

"Show a higher commitment to work. We have been working hard, hence the government (decision) to increase wages.

“With the raise, we need to improve our service delivery to the people and country,” he said after the announcement at the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (Mappa) here on Friday (Aug 16).

Adnan also said there should be more efficient processes in the civil service to improve delivery to the people.

On the exit policy being reduced from 36 months to 18 months for underperforming civil servants, he said it signified the priority given to those who performed.

“That is why the exit policy is reduced to only retain performers. To civil servants, keep working hard and serving the country,” he said.

He also thanked the Prime Minister for deciding to increase civil servants' wages.

Earlier in the day, Anwar announced a 15% pay raise for civil servants under the management and professional category and a 7% increase for those in the upper management category.

According to Anwar, it will be given to civil servants in two phases.
