KOTA BARU: Pas has confirmed that the party's vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has tendered his resignation as Perikatan Nasional (PN) treasurer.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, who confirmed this tonight said Ahmad Samsuri had submitted his resignation letter today.

"I will not comment further but can only confirm that he (Ahmad Samsuri) has resigned as PN treasurer-general.

"Pas will not issue any official statement regarding the resignation," the Kubang Kerian member of Parliament told NST.

According to Pas's mouthpiece, Samsuri who is also Pas vice-president had submitted his resignation letter to PN's management today.

"Assalamualaikum to all my friends, I would like to inform everyone that I, Ahmad Samsuri bin Mokhtar, have submitted my resignation as the treasurer of Perikatan Nasional today... That's all. Please take note," he said in a short message to Harakahdaily.

The resignation came as a surprise as Samsuri, who is also Terengganu Menteri Besar is considered a key figure in Pas, one of the component parties of PN.

Meanwhile, Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan refused to comment when asked to confirm Samsuri's resignation.

"My comment is no comment at the moment. Thank you," the Kota Baru MP said briefly.
