KPDNHEP issues notices following rise in chicken prices
KUALA LUMPUR: The price of fresh chicken in the Klang Valley has increased about six times, within this month alone, traders claimed.
Checks by Bernama at the Melaka Central Market revealed that chicken is being sold at around RM9.50 per kilogramme (kg), causing consumers to complain about the prices, which they feel is too expensive.
A trader, Hamzah Othman, 57, said never in his 30 years experience of selling chickens has he had to sell at such a high price, but he had no choice as the suppliers themselves had set such a high price.
“Some suppliers said the price hike was due to breeders having to sustain increases in imported feed prices of up to 40 per cent. This has happened not only here but everywhere,” he said.

FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry (MoA) to explore a collaboration to develop Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) based animal feed for the ruminant industry by sharing experience and expertise that will benefit both organisations.
FGV Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Haris Fadzilah Hassan said this collaboration is part of a strategic plan to penetrate and expand our ‘Waste to Wealth’ product offerings into a new market that is interrelated with our core business.
PKC is a by-product when palm kernel is processed and can be used as an alternative main raw ingredient for animal feedstock. PKC prices are much cheaper when compared to the prices of other materials such as soybeans, corn and wheat which is also widely used in animal feeds.
Through this collaboration, DVS will assist FGV’s Feed Meal strategy in both domestic and international market, provide direction on an effective ruminant programme, assist in developing a Cattle Farming Business Model – dairy or meat, provide advice on government grants, incentives, subsidies and other related aids applicable to FGV.
The rationale for venturing into the cattle farming project is to create a new growth area as we have been depending on one type of business for far too long. This new venture is a game changer for both Animal Feed Meal and Dairy Cattle Farming as it represents a new income stream to FGV which is compelling, significant and sustainable.
According to a DVS report, Malaysia imported 4 million MT of animal feed in 2017 with a value of RM7 billion. FGV PKC products has the potential to help reduce Malaysia’s agriculture industry dependency on external sources of animal feed.
“FGV is the biggest producer of PKC with 380,000 MT produced annually and 97% is exported. PKC is used as the basic ingredient for making animal feed for ruminants such as cattle and sheep. We hope that through this collaboration, we can offer premium animal feed products at a competitive price and help farmers reduce their animal feed costs”, he said

An increase in the production of palm kernel meal (PKM) coupled with the concern for continued availability of conventional feedstuffs in some parts of the world has led to research to establish the maximum inclusion level of palm kernel meal in broiler diets. The results suggested that palm kernel meal has no anti-nutritional properties and thus its inclusion is safe up to at least 40% in the diet, provided the diet is balanced in amino acids and metabolisable energy. Although feed digestibility is decreased due to high dietary fibre when PKM is included in the diet, the feed intake is increased. This makes total digestible nutrient intake relatively high. beta-mannan is the main component of palm kernel meal non-starch polysaccharide (NSP). Both mannose and manno-oligosaccharides have been reported to act as prebiotics. The inclusion of palm kernel meal in the diet improves the immune system of birds and reduces pathogenic bacteria and increases the population of nonpathogenic bacteria in the intestine. These two benefits should be considered as strong recommendations for using palm kernel meal in broiler diets, particularly in palm kernel meal producing countries, not only for increasing bird productivity but also to improve chicken health. Selective enzyme addition increases feed efficiency and digestibility as well as decreasing the moisture content of faeces.

these are the main income
Now palm kernal cake was a waste product which they found useful
So if we take the main production of Cpo, palm kernal oil and rubber with it's gross profits minus all production, overhead and overall cost then we can take the extra sale of palm kernal cake as profits
And Msm also an investment profits on its own separate listing

I don't know if it happens to every area of the country but they seems to have ND issue.
Feed prices has increased around 20%, and still increasing, but at a slower pace.
Again, common sense please. If chicken die early how can they eat all the feed/PKC?
At the same time, increasing feed prices reduce volume, smaller players got phased out. How to eat more PKC?
We observe price hike in everything and breaks record. I think Crude oil will break USD147.50 too, given time.
Chicken, eggs, PKC or whatever prices increased but it is due to cost pressure + huge demand. Every entity along the supply chain is suffering instead, rather than happily earning more $$.
Fyi, PKC more or less 5% in feed only. Government intend to make PKC 60% in feed through fermentation, doesn't look like a success to me.

Demand is not just from chicken per se.
Demand also stems from being ruminant for animals like cows and goats and others
Even sorghum has gone sky high in prices as fodder for animals
Everything that is eadible for mankind, cows, pigs, poultry and even food for fish have all gone up in tandem with steel, aluminium, lumber and others in high inflation due to US relentless money printing ?

So Soybean, Corn and Cpo also going higher and higher
Both hard and soft commodities are up in multi year highs
Housing inflation in Usa for every single family new home built cost of lumber has gone up by Usd26,000 or Rm104,000 just in cost of material price rise of lumber
So the price rise of chicken is only the 1st visible sign. Later , bread , rice , milk, beef , fish and others will also go up in prices as well in food inflation
The cost of housing and food will both increase as USA money printing dilutes the value of all paper currencies
