KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 13): In reaching out to Opposition lawmakers today for bipartisan support, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that he holds the responsibility to not let the "kleptocrats" back in power if there was a change in government.
"I, too, like all of you, have the responsibility not to let the ‘kleptocratic group’ back in power if this political crisis is not resolved immediately," Muhyiddin said in a televised address.
The Prime Minister explained that the reason he is appealing to the Opposition MPs for bipartisan support in the upcoming motion of confidence is so that the current government may continue to function in the midst of combating the pandemic.
"If we are interrupted by the endless political turmoil and a legitimate government cannot be formed, the target of herd immunity will not be achieved and the lives of the people will continue to be in danger," he said.
"So, I respectfully invite all political party leaders to discuss these proposals next week. I will issue an official invitation to all political party leaders to attend this discussion. I am ready to hear their views on this proposal."
If the proposal for the bipartisan cooperation is agreed, Muhyiddin assured that he will convene a special Parliamentary session in the near future to table a motion of confidence in him as the Prime Minister.
He assured that he has no self-interest in proposing the suggestions, and that an honourable action will be taken according to the Constitution to resolve the current political crisis.
"My only priority is to make sure the government continues to function well to deal with the pandemic and to heal the country," he said.

He did it out of necessity at the time
But he did not succumbed to let go the guilty by intervening in the court of law
This is commendable notwithstanding other short comings
Let us pray for a clean upright government that will put self interest below the serving of Malaysia
May Malaysia rise up to be a great nation all can be proud of
