LYC already proven a very good investment as the share price of LYC has gone up tremendously since. Gunung with the two proposed investments in Cambodia is an excellent counter to invest especially at the current price levels. If Cambodia deals successful price will shoot up and if fails the downside is very limited. Good optionality kind of trade: head I will gain a lot, tail I will loose little if any.

Good investment by Gunung in LYC Healthcare, a growing biz sector. Just wait for the progress of waste disposal and banking biz proposals in Cambodia.

As mentioned earlier new Gunung will add new businesses. An extract of announcement by Gunung today:
Reference is made to the Company’s announcement dated 4 May 2020. We wish to futher clarify the following excerpts from the news article published by The Edge Malaysia dated 4 May 2020 titled “Gunung Capital on the prowl for M&A”.
“Over the past few weeks, rumours have been rife that Gunung Capital plans to acquire a substantial stake in a financial institution in Cambodia. It is said that the total investment value will be more than US$25 million.”
The management of Gunung Capital Berhad (“GCB” or “the Company”) has been invited by promoters of a yet-to-be-issued, fully fledged commercial banking licence in Cambodia, to evaluate a proposal to participate. At this stage of evaluation and discussions, the Company cannot confirm the quantum of the investment value involved.
“Yap confirms that Gunung Capital is in advanced talks to acquire a more than 20% equity stake in a new full-fledged commercial bank in the country.”
The management of the Company is currently in advanced discussions, regarding the allowable equity participation in financial institutions, and other qualitative and quantitative requirements, such as governance issues, imposed by the relevant authorities in Cambodia on foreign equity participation.
Upon completion of the evaluation of the proposal, and the prospective yeild of such an equity investment is strongly beneficial to the Company, then the management of the Company will seek a meaningful equity participation, of at least a 20% equity stake to maximize on this investment opportunity.
"Potentially, we are also looking to unlock the value [of the bank] through a listing on the Cambodia Securities Exchange,"
It is premature to conclude that a listing exercise in Cambodia is the Company’s only option to unlock the value of such an equity investment. This option is obviously a long term strategy given the current infancy stage of the commercial bank proposal, the unconcluded evaluation of the proposal, and would require the necessary approvals from relevant authorities in Cambodia to list on the stock exchange. The management of the Company will look into all options to maximize the financial returns of the Company, when and if, the time comes.

However Benalec luckily got an extension of time of 3 moths to pay the balance of RM 53 m with some penalty interest. Now is not an easy time to raise funds and what will happen if Benalec failed to fulfill this obligation ???

Price for timber now is down just like the prices for most commodities. To make the matter worst the price for palm oil too is depressed due decrease in demand and extremely cheap crude oil and on top there are increasing oppositions for clearing of forests for oil palm plantations. So the value of the timber concession has to impaired accordingly. The timber land concession meant to be cleared for palm oil cultivation.

The real important asset of a service industry such as airlines, the hard tangible assets are not the most important. You can buy all the planes and have cash in the bank, but can your an airline and make money? McDonald is a company that we are familiar with as an example. The net worth or shareholders equity of McDonald is negative around say $ 6.8 b but despite that the market value or market cap is more than $160 b. Many companies especially in the new economy the most important assets are not in the balance sheets.

Warren Buffett did not exit from investing in the two airlines namely Delta and South West.He had only sold a small portions of his stakes to make the his holdings for both airlines just below the threshold of 10% and still remains the largest shareholders for both airlines. It is more of regulatory or tactical reasons.
Similarly he has sold some shares in Bank of NY Mellon to reduce his holding to just again below 10% threshold.
On top Buffett is raising funds by selling bonds in Europe and Japan where interest rates are almost zero % despite he has already had huge cash holdings.

As said earlier Tadmax is in the process of totaling exiting the 1,2000MW IPP by selling its 75% (35%+40%) interest in the project company to Worldwide. The Project will finally be owned 75% by Worldwide and the balance 25% by Kepco. Kepco will be a partner in the IPP as part of condition of approval by the government.
The reason why Tadmax is exiting from the IPP Project is best known to Tadmax itself. In biz and life too, there no certainty. Things beyond your expectation can happen any time.

Do not confuse or conflate risk with uncertainty. The current pandemic gives rise to a lot of uncertainties especially to travel and tourism sector. But as I said there will be air travels and airlines after the end of this unforeseen calamity. Yes it is uncertain when it will end and which air lines will survive or even thrive after this debacle. But is it risky to invest in Air Asia at the current price?

Don't worry about the future of Air Asia Group as I said there will be airlines after the pandemic and we are not going to stop flying. In fact once the pandemic is over, there will be huge surge of demand for flights as there are a lot of suppressed demand currently. Just revisit the incidence of September 11 and see what happen after that.
Which airlines are likely to survive? Some airlines will definitely be in big trouble. If Air Asia can not finally survive, then which other line can?

Air Asia Group has a better chance of surviving the current virus pandemic . Air Asia has a strong mindshare in the regional market and fairly good balance sheet and proven biz model. This pandemic will certainly effect negatively all airlines but there will always be need for air travel sooner or later as it is an efficient and safer mode of transportation especially for long distances.

From the perspective of net asset backing per share, this counter appear cheap if you are in the position to influence or control the running of the company. However the company is fully controlled by one group of shareholders. No way any body be it institution or individual can have any influence of the future of the company. So we are not surprised that institutional share holders are not keen to be strategic investors.

We spend so much of our present moment time trying to predict the future. And when we’re not doing that, we ruminate over the past. We beat ourselves up for putting ourselves in the situation we’re in, and do our best to figure out every possible solution and outcome.
Neither of which is helpful.
Rather than figuring out how or why something happened, we need to simply move forward. This is best done by paying attention in the moment, and keeping our eyes and ears open for whatever possible solutions may present themselves.

In a weird way, some of us who bought Jaks on margin may even benefit from forced selling as we can always buy buy back at even cheaper prices! However those who are too focused or rigid in their opinions of the real 'value' of the company may not benefit from the big price drops or even suffer losses. When big change happen, we must change too. For survival, flexibility is necessary or even crucial.
