The report mentioned that the impact of the safeguard duties imposed on China is reduced because there're imports from other countries. Selling price is unlikely to go up much further given weak local demand. Margin will be under pressure with increasing cost of raw material. However, management will continue to improve on the operational efficiency and productivity. Trying to under promise to over achieve later...?

Annualized EPS would be 34 cents. A conservative PE is 5. First TP should be RM 1.6-1.7. But we know so far 2017 steel price in Jan-Feb has been higher. If steel price can maintain at current level, 40 cents EPS for 2017 should be achievable given all the macro factors. With QR progressively reporting more stable +ve profits the PE ratio also will climb. 40 cents x 7 = RM 2.80. Maybe can hit this price wafted another 2 QR if everything goes smooth.

Is my simplistic projection reasonable?

Cscstel got hit by the same reason as mycron last round. Failure to pass on higher raw material cost. I got burned in mycron, I can't say I'm not worried that ssteel might be exposed to similar challenge in passing the cost. But with a non-inflated share price, ssteel is a much safer bet. Thanks for sharing your views. I guess the take-away is that the upcoming QR may or may not be as good as I wish but the subsequent QR will definitely be much much better if steel price can stay at the current sub RM 2.3-2.4k level.

Bought quite a lot earlier (30% of my portfolio) at higher price of 1.29. Finger crossed the EPS in the coming QR can at least be 8 cents. Annualized EPS 32 cents. PE 5.5 - 6. TP 1.8 and above.

May I validate my view here with all sifu's?

I read up a few articles from CNBC and agree with the view that the future price will likely be maintain c 52 USD per barrel (next 2-3 years) as OPEC countries will always cheat and non-OPEC will be incentivized to produce more should price go higher and US O&G companies actually have been reporting profit in Q3 while the oil price is below 50 because of drastic improvement in efficiency/cost control.

Even at the price level of 50 usd per barrel, hibiscus can easily make 5-6 cents EPS per quarter in the coming year. That's ignoring future improvement in cost and any expansion plans. 4 quarters x 5 cents EPS = 20 cents (doesn't get any more conservative than this).

At the current price the forward PER is 31/20 = 1.5. This cannot be a hidden gem because of the crazy high trade volume. The risk I can identify is USD:MYR depreciation and future decline in oil price (both have very unlimited space to drop).

What am I missing here?
