He has just printed out list of Stocks with *Stamp Duty exempt* for 2021. Then say all undervalued. LOL!

Can't believe he is reduced (humbled) to behaving like a penny stock trader. Holding a stock for 4-7 days? Buy 1 mil shares @ 1.15 sell @ 1.40?

Nothing wrong of course, but this is used to be chump change for him. What happened? Something has cracked in his head?

Is he really broke now?

This is the first intelligent thing I've read here in a LONG time. I thought Ben Tan would write something like this, but no. Which is why I fired him at the end of Feb.

Still losing MAJOR money since two weeks ago when it closed @ 4.84

Sad, sad state of affairs...

My 2 cents:

Smart ppl have been monitoring and not buying glove shares past few months; they are waiting for great opportunities following normal reaction to vaccinations like 50% vaccinations done around USA and the time glove share prices are even more attractive for good rebound

And they are wait for information on glove order prices in USA and advanced market for the period. More RSS ppl maybe find that there is only little room for drop. As a result , market for glove share prices will reaction .

I short , Supermax and Careplus share price will drop faster than others due to dividend amount declared and share buy back frequency.

Conclusion: wait ( monitor ) and see.

Another thing is any long term investor will tell you is there is a time to take profits.

Even Warren Buffet sells positions. Long suffering Supermax investors that bought shares 2003-2008 between 9 sen and 25 sen (post split) will be selling shares slowly to pay for kids college, buy a new car, and travel to NYC once Covid is over. Even at today's share price they are sitting on huge profits.

After the 2009 H1N1 pandemic we saw a 66% pull-back in price. A conservative estimate such as this pegs the price @RM3.67.

Thank you Rational_Investor, you raise some very salient points. In addition, I would like to add, Harta has an established track record of rewarding investors with dividends, in stark contrast to Supermax (which failed to pay a cash dividend last year).

Mea Culpa? Better late then never.

This phenomena is so rediculous. - Yes, but that is Bursa. In fact look at what happend to the short sellers in GameStop.

Imagine this situation. You aren't the only rich man in Malaysia. There is many others. And they all do the same exact thing - buy Supermax on margin.

Price begins to drop, the forced selling begins. It isn't rocket science now, is it? It is a vicious cycle.

Ironically, once all the margin players are forced out, the price may increase.

Cheers.

I have a sad feeling Ben the "long-term" investor is margin'd up to his eyeballs like Fool You 'Margin Call' Yin.

Medical professionals have yet to name it but non-stop articles about gloves are a symptom of the stress caused by drastically declining portfolio value due to the use of margin (and a lack of diversification).

Usually the articles are written when the stocks begin declining, NOT before (Ben's first blog post being Dec 11 2020).

News & Blogs

One more thing Ben, as a "fundamental" investor, not a "speculator that plays mahjong", why are your blog posts ONLY about glove stocks?

As a long-term investor, why aren't you covering the topic of risk management and portfolio diverification?

Aren't there other stocks like Public Bank, Inari, MPI, Uchitec, etc to broaden one's horizons?

Too much glove and no others makes Ben Tan a bore. Also highly suspect!

Well, I have been harping on for a couple of weeks now, that the price was going to plunge.

The fundamental issue is a share is a digital/physical piece of paper that you need to convince someone else is worth more, to sell to at a higher price than you bought it at.

Now if for whatever reason, there is no one left to buy higher (bid up), you have to drop your asking price, lower.

Therin lies the issue.

It seems like we have very different understanding of what investment means. Which is perfectly fine of course - different people have different understanding of things.

-No, I think we both understand each other perfectly. Whether you trade or invest, the end-goal is the same - make money, not lose money.

You can invest, just like trading - WISELY. That means being patient. If you want to buy glove stocks (to invest), wait for the sell-off to subside.

News & Blogs

As a matter of fact, those that did the pushing up last year (most likely the IB's themselves), with some foreign funds, need to sell to dumb money (retailers), so they can book those juicy profits, to buy the latest Florida condo, Mercedes Benz GLS, Rolex GMT, and RM5000 bordeaux wine. The shops don't accept Supermax shares. Only cash, credit or bitcoin (in some cases).

News & Blogs

Ben, it doesn't make sense to catch a falling knife now does it? The chart doesn't lie. Whether is is IB's or PTD's selling, what difference does it make?

Price is the price. No point fighting or arguing. Throwing a tantrum like Fool Yew Yin isn't going to work. The banks can see the order book, so they know that there is no one left to push these counters up.

Last year was the only year that all forms of short selling was banned, combined with low oil prices and Covid, creating a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

If you'd followed a trading plan carefully, you'd stay clear of glove stock (stonks?), at least until Covid is over (advise to new investors).

With regards to older investors, that bought last year from March - May, you are still sitting on a hefty profit, so why worry (until it goes negative)?

Big LNG boost for Malaysia
By INTAN FARHANA ZAINUL
ENERGY
Monday, 01 Feb 2021

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia and its national oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) are expected to benefit from the recent spike in the price of gas.

The Asian liquefied natural gas (LNG) spot price has been rallying over the past two months and soared more than 18 times to a record high of US$32.50 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) from the April 2020 low of US$2.40 due to the unusually cold winter in North Asia and Europe, as well as unexpected supply issues.

Asian LNG spot prices have outpaced that of Europe and the United States.

According to a report by Reuters, US gas futures for February at the Henry Hub benchmark currently trade at around US$2.60 per mmBtu, while in Europe, prices at the Dutch TTF hub are around US$10 per mmBtu.

Petronas is the largest LNG exporter in South-East Asia and the third largest in the world. In 2019, Malaysia’s LNG exports accounted for 7% of LNG exports worldwide, according to data provided by BP’s 2020 Statistical Review of World Energy.
