Vincent, refinery margin in asia weakest since 7 years. Oversupply and demand slowdown from china mainly. Not sure if malaysia refinery same thing or not.

Number guys, just simple question. Why dato ewe collect a lot of shares via Hijauwasa but still not trigger MGO? I thought anythg above 33% need to do mgo. Now already 38.2%. Last acquire back in sept at 68 sens.
If cancel the treasury share, got 6.3 mil, dato ewe interest go up to 39.4%.
Just wondering....

Sslee, i actually think it will be good for u to promote the company. Understand u want to collect more at lower price but u also must have limit to ur capital. Most investors actually don't know where to park their money now with the trade war, slowing global economy, interest rate hike, fund tapering by central bank etc. At least once u done collecting u should try promote the company to others. Win win situation. U get capital appreciation, other investors get to invest in something a bit more solid. Now everyone i think buy what is hot at the moment.. I think this week must be carimin and kub. Next week mayb hibiscus & presbhd. They dont actually understand y but just follow crowd. Those stock already covered by analysts are already trading at high price. Good business but super expensive. Some other promoter, when asked question dont want to explain. Just critic saying those in doubt dont understand the business lah, stupid lah etc.. But they also don want to explain. Mayb they also dont understand.
U dont join the stock pick 2019 contest? Can't find ur name. Just want to know what stock u think are interesting..

This article is more recent:
SUPPLY FROM NEW REFINERIES TO WEIGH ON GASOLINE
Fundamentals in the Asian gasoline market are likely to remain weak in 2019 despite being supported by the Middle East, as South Asia searches for fresh regional demand while nursing a hangover from 2018's supply glut, sources said.
China has awarded the first round of gasoline export quotas for 2019 at 5.19 million mt, down 20.8% year on year. Despite the lower quota in the first round, supply is set to rise as new refineries Hengli Petrochemical and Zhejiang Petrochemical come online in Q1 and Q2 2019, respectively. Quotas are expected to rise in future rounds as part of the Chinese government's continued efforts to ease a bloated domestic market. Both refineries will add a total of 800,000 b/d to Chinese output.
Outside China, new projects such as Malaysia's 300,000 b/d RAPID refinery coming online in H1 2019 will add 98,000 b/d of gasoline to the market. This, coupled with steady run rates from refineries in North Asia, adds to mounting concerns of supply.
Uncertainty prevails on whether South Korea's tax reduction on auto fuels will provide any noteworthy support to gasoline markets. Although lower pump prices may help raise demand, many believe that any significant rebound in gasoline demand will only be seen at the start of the driving season in mid-2019.
There is little new regional demand that could help absorb the Asian surplus.
Indonesia's purchasing power for refined oil products has been severely circumscribed by a depreciating rupiah, market sources said. The government's efforts to reduce the country's current account deficit and lower its import bills will also put a ceiling on any fresh demand from Southeast Asia's largest importer of gasoline.
On a bright note, demand from Africa, Pakistan and India is likely to remain strong while supply is expected to tighten as Middle Eastern refineries go on turnaround in H1 2019. Middle Eastern producers are also collectively expected to cut the usage of lighter grade crude oil due to low refining margins, which will further tighten supply of gasoline within the Persian Gulf.

Watchdog, i also think the same thing. But logically can one should already know that they will need to do an mgo before negotiating the deal w mr tan right? I mean they are already @ 32.9%. Buy 500k shares also already trigger mgo. Why the heck nego to buy 2.2mil share with a friendly party to only back away at the last minute? I think deal will go through. Just that now everyone is too pessimistic. I think last month it even fell to 2.48. Mayb just buy and hold till egm. Pray a lot and hope deal will go through.. Dunno where to put money anyway.. Every thing looks crazy now..

Nice rebound. Anyone has done the calculation of the company profit at usd 50-55 per barrel? My rough calculation, pat should be around rm20mil to rm30mil per quarter. Need someone to comfirm this. If oil price rebound then profit also shoot up. Cost per barrel is almost fixed.

Choivo, read ur research. Like the company because of the valuation. Looks super cheap. But got some questions. Hope u can answer. Sorry gonna be a bit long.
1) Why would anyone want to borrow money at 15-20%? Bank rakyat and mbsb is charging less than half of that. Does it mean that does that borrow from rce are those that got rejected by other instituition. Does this mean the clients are more risky? Or does it mean that rce is less stringent in giving out loan?
2) If other institutions growth for civil servant loan is slowing down, why do u think rce growth can accelerate? Should it not be at least growing (if not slowing) at the same rate as other instituition? I mean bank rakyat will still try n chase the same customer as rce right?
3) Previously mbsb also has a low NPL compared to other banks. But when the merger deal between rhb, cimb and mbsb were launch, due diligence finding show that mbsb actually is way lineant in recognising NPL. Is it the same case for RCE? I mean if they are getting clients which are rejected by MBSB, it should also mean that the clients are riskier which means NPL should be higher as well. Is there a risk of bnm forcing them to recognise any npl more stringently in line with other banks?
4) Recently becoz of the high household debt, even public servants and glc employees find it hard to apply for loan. Some of the glc has stricten the condition to enable employee to apply for a salary deduction. If not mistaken they have reduce the maximum net salary ratio to debt payment to 60% from the previous 75%. This would affect business like rce right?
5) Another risk is that the company business is dependent on the size of the civil servant. From my understanding the new govt is planning to reduce the civil servant size. Currently i think they have already reduce and slow down new hires. Those position that are already retired are not being replace (just asked any of ur friends working w the govt). Most new hire are based on contract (not entitled to salary deduction scheme). This would potentially reduce the company business right?
6) what is your profit target for 2019?
2018-12-25 07:24 | Report Abuse
Based on people's comments, at best velesto can only make small profit even at almost 100% utilisation rate. Mainly becos the charter rate is low at the moment. Even if oil price recover back to $70/bl, charter rates would still not rise much. Then why are investors still buying or holding to this stock? Why not look elsewhere?

Ken, is it because of the uncertainties link to tolls abolishment? Looking at their financials, i also don't see y the share price would be tumbling down.
But i thought the govt already said that the probability for toll abolishment is small.
