Bermaz Auto Bhd's net profit in its third quarter ended Jan 31, 2021 (3QFY21) rose 21.85% to RM33.08 million from RM27.15 million a year ago on higher local sales of vehicles, the company said today.

UMW Holdings Bhd's vehicle sales rose 4.4% month-on-month (m-o-m) in February 2021, as sales of UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) jumped and supported a minor decline in Perodua sales.
UMW said Toyota sales via UMWT rose 32% to 5,074 units in February, from 3,845 units in January, amid strong demand for Fortuner and Innova models launched in February, and the Vios and Yaris models launched in December last year.Perodua, meanwhile, sold 16,583 units, down 1.84% from 16,894 units in January. UMW attributed the decline to a lower number of working days, as well as festive holidays in the month.

Palm oil has been at the centre of a dispute between the EU and Malaysia, as the regional bloc has moved to restrict edible oil in biodiesel.Under the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) II, palm oil has been classified as a high indirect land-use change product that raises its greenhouse gas emissions to unacceptable levels. It will be gradually phased out of the bloc’s renewable energy mix by 2030.

CSPO standard was first developed by the Sabah government in 2015 and is a 10-year plan that involves all types of land including alienated, gazette, state land and agroforestry forest reserves.

The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) today advised all settlers not to fall prey to any land purchase offer from any company.Felda Corporate Communications Unit also reminded the settlers about the importance of obtaining Felda's confirmation and approval in any matter involving their land.“There have been previous cases where settlers lost their land and did not get the promised offer and eventually had to live in hardship."Felda also urges the settlers not to be involved in any briefing sessions that are not attended by Felda representatives because any massive development proposal should be done in an orderly manner and in accordance with the laws and regulations
