I cannot advice those who bought the stock above RM0.70...but if you managed to get on the train below RM0.65, my honest advice is to keep the stock till RM0.90 at least, which will definitely be achieved by year's end barring any disaster such as contract being cancelled. Easily 40+% profit in a year...hard to beat those returns.

Wow, P/BV of 0.44X and ROE of 10%++. Even with some holding company discount, that's a great proposition!

@ShareRich, to clarify I'm not being selfish and hoping for USD rise. Heck no. I buy stuff from Amazon occasionally so a weak USD is good. But I think for the general well-being of the country and balance between cost of living and exports/manufacturing competitiveness, ~RM4.00-RM4.20 seems like the best trade-off between the two. RM4.50 was too high for cost of living. RM3.30 did no good for our export competitiveness.

Any idea why local/international funds don't hold this stock? Look at the annual report top 30 shareholders and nothing...kinda makes me think why?

Problem is as MYR strengthens Hevea might be losing its edge. Anything above RM4.20 is still considered good...but the Ringgit has gone to RM4.27 now and it's getting ever closer to RM4.20...

Read my comments from before. Just sell the stock. Buyback after Ex date if you are still interested.

That's it. Looks like we're stuck here for now. Share price likely won't fall much further, but upside is also limited in the near term.

It looks like until all Islamic Funds have stopped offloading, the price will be depressed. It likely won't spike down anymore, but might be depressed to ~RM1.50 for the next half year unless there is a strong re-rating catalyst. As you see by the volume today, it is likely those who sold off are traders that got spooked. No major fund has offloaded yet. They have six months to offload.

Investors with Shariah mandate are given 6 months from today to dispose of Shariah non-compliant securities provided the market price of such securities exceeds or equal to the investment cost. On the other hand, investors are allowed to hold their investment in newly reclassified Shariah non-compliant securities if the market price is below investment cost.

Sold all at RM0.74. Bought at RM0.57 in late February. Will buy back in the future if valuations are attractive again.

@Junichiro, I don't disagree. As a matter of fact I have my eyes on a few fallen counters where I am certain EPF will selldown temporarily sooner rather than later, and I will be there to pick up the pieces at rock bottom prices.

@weng77, remember, Bumi Armada has very little operations in Malaysia. The OSV mostly in Africa, South America, South East Asia and Europe. Very less to Malaysia, unlike the companies you saw.

EPF is not god. I collected Bumi Armada from them at rock bottom prices, and then a few days later they swoop in to collect again. EPF returns are at best the same as the market. They win and lose just as the index, if not worse. They are not gods. They don't know more than us.

@deep, I think people are wrongly using the term. Should be IB i.e. investment banks i.e. institutional funds. Or maybe they mean bulge bracket banks. Same thing lah. This is what we call Wall Street.

Not sure how reliable but they claim Q2 load factor at 91%. Combined with more favorable USD, and also similar oil price profile as Q2 of last year...there is reason to be optimistic of Q2 2017.

Alas, staff should be duly rewarded, makes them work harder. Though I do with they weren't as exuberant as this. Still shareholders should give some leeway there. The staff are what makes AA what it is.

RenegadeMasters I think there is good reason to view the results with suspicion. There are two very large one of gains contributing half of the net profit. The group reporting structure has changed with PAA and AAIs numbers being included into the core income statement.
We need more clarity from the analysts tomorrow. AA has got one of the most complicated Financial Statements. Even more complicated than Tenaga, the banks, the telcos and other KLCI bellwether stocks. Even with my medium level accounting knowledge I can't be certain of what means what exactly.
2017-05-25 19:12 | Report Abuse
Can somebody rationally comment why they consolidate PAA and AAI into the statement?
2017-05-25 19:10 | Report Abuse
Well it looks like they have consolidated Indonesia and Philippines into the income statement. Hence the much higher revenues and costs.
Need to read what the analysts say tomorrow. It looks Ike AirAsia has changed too many things to try to create profit and skew people's perception of its financial performance.

Guys, my idea how they calculate NAPS? Shouldn't the equity be misused off with non controlling interests? Isn't that how it's done?

supermx you are an idiot, no investor worth his salt takes AA Q1 2016 profit seriously. you are delusional, tomorrow you will get slaughtered at the opening bell. Hope you get the heck out of here after that

Also WTF with the equity dropping. Cash flow is also negative once you remove the injection from Tony.
It looks very bad man, the balance sheet is not healthy, cash flows are poor...the profits are contributed mostly by one off gains.
I may jump out at RM3.40 this time. Don't want to risk to RM4 which may not come.
2017-05-25 18:29 | Report Abuse
Those are one off gains...careful guys. The real profit is at ~RM300mil
2017-05-25 18:28 | Report Abuse
There are two major items (non core) that have contributed to this. There is a chance the stock could go down as such.
What means Remesurement Gain on Consolidation and Negative Goodwill on consolidation? Both of these together contribute more than half to the NP for the Q.

I agree...trap, goreng, operator etc are all dirty words. We need to focus on the profitability, margins, ROE, balance sheet health, topline growth, future prospects, currency/commodity headwinds etc.

Imagine if after this hoohaa and all AA reports profit of RM450mil++....tomorrow we will be back to ~RM3.30. But further upside would depend on subsequent quarters and corporate exercises.

You guys must be delusional, promote at i3Investor also for what? Our daily trading volume is just 0.01% of the market, we can't move the market, we can't influence the market. Come here to promote is just syiok sendiri, of course eventually when you keep promoting you will be correct, but that's another matter altogether.
