And pre-china move away from vinyl glove, 2017 TG prices was 0.398sen
And pre-2014 ebola outbreak, TG prices was 0.059sen
And pre 2009 H1N1 pandemic, TG prices was -0.351sen

OMG... the real value of TG is -0.35sens. It is not even worth RM6 but it is actually taking on a debt!!

Really... is the world's largest glove company worthless than USD 1.5 a share?

Share prices rises because TG has increased it profitability. It production capacity has increased 28% by Dec2020 and is projected to be 54% by Dec2021. Glove prices will be higher pre-covid prices. This is due to more sectors having to comply with higher health standards and... inflation. The US has been printing money, some USD 7 trillion in 2020, and Malaysia's debt to GDP ratio has increased from 52.5% to 62%.

Everyone is betting that the pandemic will end in 2021. That maybe true in a best case scenario in the US and Europe. But it will be take till 2022 for the rest of the developing world, which includes our region.

And in the worse case scenario? Even after 340,000 American are dead from Covid19, only 50.6%-60% Anericas will take the vaccine (depending on survey). This is not enough to stop the original covid strain much less the more infectious B117 strain.

Run to what, the entire stock market is red.

And the SP500 is at all time high, with overvalued PE ratios... the kind seen just before a major correction. The US stock market is at an all time high, in the middle of a pandemic, with businesses closed and 50 millions of American depending on food donations in food banks and about 40 million will be homeless by January 2021.

Also many malaysian stock are precovid level, or even pre recession levels.

You want to buy those when the pandemic will last at least to 3Q of 2021 in the the developed world (that is their aim), and may last till 2022 for developing nations?

We are stuck in a weird place. Gloves have good FA but have bad sentiment. Recovery stocks are almost full recovered price wise, have good sentiment but terrible FA.

If recovery stocks still had their recession price... I would consider.. but buying them at full price, while they are not performing and won't do so for another year with a US stock market that could implode at any moment.

Remember the 2018 Dec plunge and 2020 March plunge. Both nothing to do with COvid19. The causes of those falls are still there.

Here is some idea of the rollout of the Covid vaccination in Malaysia

Malaysia has purchased 12.8 mil doses of Pfizer vaccine, sufficient for 6.4mil Malaysians, or about 20% of the population. Immunity threshold of Covid19 is estimated to be 60-70%. Immunity threshold for B117 strain is estimated to be over 80%.

The roll out will take a year, with the majority in the second half of 2021.

Keep safe everyone. It will be a slow ride.

Assumption that all vaccines will work. The Australian vaccine has failed. GSK and Sanofi vaccine have encountered problems and will be delayed till later in 2021.

Also AstraZenneca production capacity is 2000bn aiming for 3000bn in 2021.

Gamaleya vaccine SpunikV is a black box. Nobody has any data on this vaccine.

There are 7.8bn people on the planet. All these vaccine are 2 doses. So 15.6bn doses are needed.

Sure and initial target was 25 million American vaccinated by the end of 2020. Then revised down to 20 million Americans due to quality control issues.

Two more days to go and it is still 2 million vaccinated. Worst, over 9 million doses are sitting on dry ice... with only 5 days before their supply of dry ice must be topped up.

Will new dry ice come in time, and will the vaccine get into American arms before millions doses of the vaccine expires in storage.

That is the distribution issue of a vaccine that need to be kept so cold.

After the 100 million doses from Pfizer, the next batch for America is in late June or July. Moderna has promised 100 million doses, and has yet to state when it can produce more after that initial 100 million.

Ah Andy Hall, hero of foreign workers, who wants everything.... company sponsored housing, a short commute to work, and freedom of movement during a pandemic. Yet... why do I feel his demand sound increasing unreasonable and irritating?

Ah that's right. Because most people don't get such rights. People have to get up early to get to work. A 1hr commute (one-way) is considered average in Malaysia, and have mercy on the many people who have a 2 hour commute. And being able to knock off during that trip is consider a bonus.

And ask yourself when was the last time traffic was a successful excuses for being late to work?

So Mr Hall, you got your workers better accommodating and like all things in life, it was a trade off. More space... but further from work and far away from shops.. but you know what that is life.

Nothing is to stop those workers calling a taxi to go to the nearest supermarket, or getting a driving license and their own motor vehicle.

Me.. well I know the UK population is 66 million. So 15 million people vaccinated by Feb is 22% of the population vaccinated. This is not enough to stop the pandemic. The new B117 strain has a herd immunity threshold of about 80%

And that is it. The UK has not purchased more pfizer vaccine. Additional stock would only be available in July.

This is why UK and US will grant approval to all vaccine candidates. Their hope is AstraZeneca. Moderna will likely not sell any vaccine outside the US until 2022.

There is a semi color standard of what each glove type is made off and used for.

So this shade of blue is used to indicate that the gloves are nitrite examination gloves and not some other type of glove.

Most companies follow the same standards. So by color I can tell if the gloves are nitrile , latex or PVC, and it their are examination gloves (thinner) or surgical gloves (thicker). And type of chemical resistance too.

@DannyArcher

I think I know why you are having so many problems here. Most of the remaining retailer still in TG are Investors. Investors make a valuation of the company base on fundamental analysis and buy in when the stock drops below what the investors consider fair price.

In effect we buy when other run. Greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy. @Investors buy when Traders sell.

So when you point at the all the trading indicators, MACD and say oh horrible it is... investors at most think damn that is good price to buy but most pay it little attention.

Inherent to the "Being greedy when others are fearful" or "Buying good shares when it is cheap" mind set, is that Investors think the market has miss prices the share, or that it is not reading/understanding the situation correctly and eventually when the market realizes its mistake there will be a correction.

So here in glove...
I believe the market has underestimate the danger of SARS-Cov2 pandemic and it has overestimated the vaccine efficacy and the rate it can be rolled out to the global population.

Locally I has serious doubts that Malaysia will be able to obtain enough vaccine in 2021 to end the pandemic, due to developed nations having effectively bought all vaccine as pre-orders for multiple manufacturers. (Not knowing which vaccine would work, they opted to buy all of them) In addition, before the pandemic, the regional market was already in trouble due to US-China trade war.

To convince these last investors like myself to leave, you have to successfully argue that (1) the pandemic will end early. (2) the global economy will begin a new expansion phase, making March 2020 the shortest global recession in history rather than tremors of a Great Recession that is about to come.

And yes I do know the SP500 is making new highs. But I also know million of Americans are in food line and that the Fed is buying USD 100bn a month in ETF and cooperate bonds. Since the Fed can print US Dollar.... so yeah you can keep stock valuation high, even as company profit explore new lows.

There is a matter of cost of equipment that runs into the millions of USD, compared to USD100,000 for a mask making machine. And the dip line equipment is large, we a talking hundreds of meters long when all the different mold clear, baths, dyer and testers are consider, requiring a footprint very much larger than a mask making machine (several hectors vs a large two car garage).

And there is economy of scale. Outside of a pandemic, gloves are cheap bulk items. The profitability on any one box of gloves is small, so you need to make a lot to be profitable.

Anyone can make gloves, but not everyone can stay in business making gloves. Once the pandemic is over, you can bet the big 4 will be driving all the newly sprout glove companies out of business to get a discount buy on their glove equipment.

We have heard of too many cautionary stories of successful companies over diversifying out of their core competency, resulting in massive loses.

Just because you are good at making gloves does not automatically make your management team and workers good at making airplanes or microchips.

If anything, I think TG should use their money to improve themselves; increase production capacity, automate their plants to reduce cost, increase efficiency and give them more resilience to viral outbreaks.

They can use a small, set amount of money to try other things. Each new venture has to be treated like a new company. If it is good, it will grow. If it is bad it can use no more than its own seed money and die when that money is gone.

Net short position of TG:
On 16 December 103 million shares
On 17 December 95 million shares
On 18 December 70 million shares
On 21 December 70 million shares

All the information we are seeing are days old. At best 1 day old.

IB are not a single group of institutions. They will have different objectives.

As the numbers show, some institutions are already unwinding their short positions.

However given that warrants are expiring heavily in-the-money starting tomorrow, maybe some Institution that issued warrants will short hard to depressed the share prices, thus reducing loses from issuing warrants with too low excision prices.

Maybe others are hoping this will happen and short along with the warrant institutions... never mind the dividend if they can push it below 16.5 sen from where they have borrowed.

We do not know. And as retailers we will just have to trust our judgement on the company's profitability and move in if we see an opportunity.

Stock

the TG share "sales" by EPF on 15, 16 and 17 December has been Securities Borrowing & Lending (SBL)... this means EPF has loaned the shares to a third party with the understanding that after an agreed upon period, the third party will returned the share with interest. Under SBL, the Dividend of the shares belongs to EPF

EPF has about 35million TG shares on SBL. And this loaned shares have probably been used to short the market. So far there about net 70 million TG shares that have been shorted.

But eventually all those shares have to be repurchased at some point. Especially as TG dividend is 16.5sen, a very painful cost on top of the interest that the IB traders have to pay from borrowing shares.

It works for 2 months and causes anaphylaxis reaction in an unknown percentage of the population, because in the trials they screen out anyone with a history of allergic reactions.

We have so many basic questions that are unanswered.

Will it work in 6 months? People who get infected by the virus after the first dose but before the second, do they have higher frequencies of getting severe covid19.. due to ADE caused by subneutralizing levels of antibodies.

The problem is the phase III trial is far from complete. Pfizer phase III trials is completed on August 2021 while the Moderna phase III trial ends in October 2022. And at most only 1% of the data has come in. There is a reason why Moderna and Pfizer require governments to absolve them of all liability.

So if you get some serious side effect from taking either the pfizer or moderna vaccine, you can only get compensation from your government.

Vaccine are safe only because they are heavily tested. And the test phase takes years to do.

If we aren't going to bother waiting for the phase III results, we could have gotten the vaccine in June or July. We must remember the only reason we do the trials is because somewhere in the past, something when wrong and we learned a lesson that cost a lot of lives.

Wait for the trial results to come in.

We did experience two massive plunges of the global economy before the pandemic really got going.

Moderna will not be selling any vaccine until the US is fully vaccinated. And that is well into 2022 given Moderna's production capacity.

Any company with a sizeable work force that is still operating will get infected and if enough people get infected somebody will eventually die. The only way to keep all TG employee safe is to put them into isolation. Basically a prison. But that might offend your sensibilities.

There is no need to hope the pandemic will get worse. We know it will get worse. It is flu season in the western hemisphere. Worse we even have news that the SARS-Cov2 virus has jumped into the wild mink population, so the virus now has an animal reservoir for it to retreat too and come back later. We may now need to vaccinate minks all around the world if we want to stamp out this virus.

We even know that TG will be making record breaking profits in FY21Q2 and FY21Q4. FY21Q3 may not break any records

What most people are hoping is that the TG share prices will reflect this reality.

As things stand, experts estimate less than 25% the world population will be vaccinate in 2021. And if you take the word of company CEOs, then assume all vaccine work from all companies (Moderna, Pfizer, AztaZenecca, Johnson Johson, GSK, Sanofi, Sinovac, Sinopharm, CanSino, Gamaleya, Novavax, Curevax, Covaxx) and all vaccines can be produce at maximum capacity there is enough for about 50%-60% of the global population. Better but not enough to stop the pandemic.

There is no Karma only Reality. The western world has pre purchased most of the global supply since it is not known which vaccine will succeed. Case in the point the failure of the Australian vaccine and the delay of the GSK and Sanofi vaccine as it had low efficacy in the age 55 and older group. So for the rest of us, it is likely we won't be fully vaccinated until 2022.

That is not Karma. That is the imbalance of power in the world. We did a relatively good job of controlling the virus but we are still at the end of the queue because our politicians were slow, we did not develop our own vaccine and we are poor.

aka fun time of living in a developing nation.....

>>Some experts predict it will be 2024 before there is enough vaccine. Others, like Dr. Hatchett, think that as more people get sick and acquire natural immunity, the need for the vaccine will diminish and the supply will be adequate by late 2022.<<

This is not good.

If a virus has an animal reservoir, we must also vaccinate that animal species or risk the virus coming back from the animal reservoir, possibly as a different strain as it mutates there.
