They just stole a valuable asset at a deep discounted price, hence valuation up and price begin to move up.

Forget about the gearing issue if their cash flow is able to service the debt, it is only a ratio on paper to scare the financial analyst.

Imagine if I have to borrow RM100 from the bank to acquire an asset at a discounted price of RM100 but which is worth RM200, and provided I can also service my bank borrowings with my income stream. am i better or worst off ??

So if you are a KJ minority shareholder whose shares has been robbed off your hands at a unfair discounted price of RM3.10, what are you going to do to get even ?? Buy back the shares of the robber i.e Canone to get even la..so you indirectly own back KJ

Thats why Canone shares start to move up now...quick before its too expensive..anything below RM4 is a good buy.

How can your financials be worsened if :-
1) if you have a chance to acquire a grossly under valued asset
2) if you have the means to get the financing to acquire it
3) if you are able to service the financing obligation with your internal cash flow

Yes ratio wise it may deteriorate such as gearing ratio, but common sense wise, what do you think ?

When LGE raise tax for Genting..only negative reactions is from investors of Genting..which forms a minority of the population in Malaysia..but when he is perceived to cut the spending on certain sector like rural development..policy affectitng PTPTN..major upheaval from the masses

So for political mileage..certain corps in certain tabooed industry is the first to be sacrificed

GenM will probably not see any upside in the short term as most institutional investors will adopt a wait and see till the next few Q results is out, to gauge how the higher tax will impact the bottomline, and how the new theme park and cost rationalisation efforts undertaken by management will mitigate the higher tax, and the overall impact on the bottomline

Till then it should be range bound..but as they say you may take a position now to see what will unfold in the next few Qs..take a bet now and wait . Don't forget NTA is 3.37..so that would be a strong support.

I think in the interim period, the upside for GenM is quite limited,

at the current price, most has already factored in the worst case scenario and adopt a wait and see for 1Q2019 results to see how the higher tax negative, and new theme park positive, will work into the earnings...no body knows for sure..so they priced it currently at close to worst case scenario

if 1Q 2019 results get hit less than expected despite tax hike..those who bought it now will get big pleasant surprise

if no, then already expected and factored in current price, and you wasted holding cost for the 5 or 6 months, which you could have invested elsewhere and get some returns ( not guaranteed unless in FD la).

Question is are you willing to hold for 5 to 6 months.to see the last card unfold if you believe you got a good hand or just fold and quit and call it a day.

I remember one audit friend of mine who used to audit the accounts of Genting used to say there is one item always in the account that they did not explain much ..ranging yearly RM100 mil to RM150 mil..sort of expensed always in the name of contribution or lobby or some thing.

Now that with this new PH gov, do they still need to stashed away this kind of money, for whatever purpose..you know i know la..otherwise, it will be now in the open in the form of increase casino tax..so no need to pay undertable..but now become legitimate tax...if like this effect not that bad ya...save a little bit from here..to pay as something else

Personally i think not lo...but interim volatility is unavoidable, but the base is 3.4..if it goes to 2.5 like some have predicted here, LKT will be the first one to snap up first

The above anaysis in Chinese is b4 LGE announce tax hike to 35%, which is steeper than most expected...most analyst factored in may be 5 - 7% increase, but LGE round it up to 10%, hence the huge fall

No way that now they hv invested so much in the resort, then let the price slide to say 2.5, then ikan bilis like me collect, and in the future reap good dividends..better ROI then the group itself. So the only sensible thing is to take it private, enjoy the return from its huge investment for themselve instead of sharing with ikan bilis who hope to buy at let say 2.5...then years later..where earnings visibility reached maximum, relist GenM for another round of killing
