Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank are small banks in the US. They don't even rank among the top 15 banks. They aren't JP Morgan Chase or Bank of America and their effect on Malaysia would be negligible I think.

Maybank has been paying yearly dividends in excess of 50 sen a share for over 12 years. Bank failures elsewhere don't mean that local banks would be affected. You really lack economic knowledge.

Genting promoters have gone into hiding, nursing their wounds perhaps. Bank promoters are still in high spirits.

Wow! Maybank is still up 4 sen despite failures of two US banks. As it always does on the day when it trades ex-dividend, trending upwards.

@Michael_chan2022, five years ago Maybank was trading at over RM9 a share and Genting at over RM8 a share. What is Genting's share price today? Maybank pays over 55 sen in dividend each year, how much dividend does Genting pay?

Those who bought Maybank shares are investors, not gamblers. Buyers of Dnex shares are gamblers and they will lose their pants.

Imagine if you had bought Maybank in late Oct 2020 at around RM7 and kept until today, how much do you think you have already made?

Don't worry too much. Lockdown during the pandemic was much, much worse but Maybank continued to perform reasonably well.

I thought you just bought RHB Bank and now you want to sell it? If RHB Bank ever drops below RM5.50 again due to the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, I would commit another RM10 to 15k to buy the counter.

It is slow to react to good news but reacts immediately to bad news. Small investors have no confidence in this company. Sad!

Sometimes when an opportunity arises, it is better to seize the opportunity and benefit from it. Excluding dividends, RHB Bank went up to as high as RM6.31 over the past 12 months. I would certainly sell some RHB shares should it rise to RM6.30 again before it trades ex-dividend.

@pang72, if I buy 10,000 RHB Bank shares at RM5.67, my brokerage, stamp duties and clearing charges are as follows :---
Brokerage = RM56.70
Stamp duty = RM85.50
Clearing fees = RM17.01
Total charges = RM159.21
If I manage to sell at RN5.72 in the afternoon, total transaction costs would come up to around RM320. Still make RM180, not too bad but unlikely to be repeated everyday.

From RM5.12 a month ago to RM4.58 today, that is quite a big drop. Genting promoters should come out strongly to defend their darling.

I would say the US market is irrational.

I look for safe stocks with PEs of not more than 15 and yields of over 6%. Few counters listed on Bursa meet my requirements.

My investments in RHB Bank and Maybank make up over 50% of my total investments in Bursa with investments in RHB Bank nearly 10% more than investments in Maybank. No intention of selling any of them in the near future.

Lowest a week ago was only 30.5 sen. White candle stick in four out of past five days.

But bad for Malaysian Ringgit. It has been dropping against other currencies especially the US and Sing Dollars. Now 1 Sing Dollar = RM3.34 and 1 US$ = RM4.52

Hari Raya Puasa is coming and dividend from Maybank isn't sufficient to pay ASB unit holders so it has to raise some money to make unit holders happy.

Should have committed fresh money rather than switching counters. Both are good banks.

From over RM9 to RM0.60 in just two and a half years. This happening to a company which was expected to dethrone Maybank to become the company with the largest market capitalization listed on Bursa is really shocking.

Dropping towards 60 sen. Would likely dip below this level again.

Why are funds not buying a bank counter with a PE of less than 9 and a dividend yield of over 7? This seems unusual.

It shows investors have no confidence in this company. Major shareholders have to do something more proactive like making better use of its vast cash reserve, paying better dividends......

Keck Seng didn't pay any dividend in 2020 and 2021 amounting to a total of 20 sen. This year's dividend should include the dividends it conveniently failed to pay, making a total of 30 sen I suppose.

If the amount of interest to be waived in order to help B40 borrowers is kept below 1% of its earnings for the year, Maybank's share price shouldn't be adversely affected. Poor ASB unit holders also need dividend payout from Maybank. So Maybank investors can rest assured that the help to be extended to B40 group is unlikely to seriously affect its bottom line.

Peluang beli RM8.50 selepas ex-dividend. Sekarang susah sikit.

Buy now at RM8.68 and collect your 30 sen dividend on the 24 March. You actually pay only RM8.38 a share, being its 52 week low.

@calvintaneng, can't trust you cannontan, last year you advised investors to sell bank stocks, claiming NPLs would increase. Banks have continued to do well and paid handsome dividends since.

This guy (or gal?) who has the habit of rubbishing the comments/recommendations of others, including buy calls from investment bankers had posted a comment on Nov 25, 2021 claiming all GLC linked companies were losing big money. I have investments in Maybank, RHB Bank and Tenaga and have received satisfactory returns. He had slandered all GLC companies.

@CharlesT, company should have used this amount to pay off current and non-current liabilities like loans and borrowings, trade and other payables, deferred tax liabilities etc and the company would be totally debt free.

Steadily going up but more room for gains before it trades ex-dividend.

@emsvsi, I bought Genting at slightly over RM5.00 a share just before the pandemic struck. Didn't make any money on this counter. Bought Maybank at about the same time at around RM8.50 a share. Including dividends, return from Maybank is so much better.

Not so fast, may be after drp issue price has been determined.

Some small investors can't afford to wait for the day when the goose starts to lay golden eggs. Good for the company directors. Should they decide to take Keck Seng private one day, they can make a lower offer to small investors.

RHB Bank final dividend 25 sen a share. Total dividend for the year is 40 sen. Share price only 1% higher.

Didn't perform as well as bank stocks. The recent bull run of Tenaga, from RM7.89 to RM10.00 in just 4 to 5 months is probably too much.
