I am already very satisfied with last year's total dividend of 58 sen a share which translates into a yield of 6.6%. Doubt the EPF could pay more than 5.5% dividend for 2022.

There are small investors who are willing to sell Keck Seng shares at a meagre price of RM3.57 a share. It just shows their complete lack of confidence in the company. Incidentally, Keck Seng's net cash and its investments in listed companies are already worth over RM3.80 a share.

RHB Bank should be re-rated. It should trade at a PE of at least 10 or around RM6.50 a share instead of a PE of under 9. Maybank and Public Bank trade at a PE of around 13. RHB Bank seems to have been neglected by investors.

"When will see see RM9?"
@Pinky, this round of dividend payment doesn't involve the issue of drp shares. Hence there is no need to keep Maybank shares low. I am quite confident that you would see RM9 before it trades ex-dividend.

@Amazonboy, DBS trades at over SGD34 a share while UOB trades at almost SGD30, more than 10 times Maybank's share price. However, Maybank has a dividend yield which is almost 50% higher than the yields of both DBS and UOB. Given a choice, I would still choose Maybank.

EPF sold about 19.50 million RHB Bank shares over the last two weeks, more than the amount of drp shares it could be allocated.

We have to thank EPF for keeping RHB Bank's share price depressed over the past few weeks so that small investors are able to buy RHB at below RM5.60 a share.

drp only benefits institutions holding millions, tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of Maybank shares. For small investors like us, making RM50 from the drs is also a problem.

With Maybank, small investors can more or less predict how much it would earn and how much dividend it would declare. It is so predictable and consistent.

I have no illusion about Keck Seng. That is why I used the word "should", I didn't use "will" or "would".

Maybank's shares are tightly held by institutions. Those holding above 100,000 shares account for over 98% of Maybank total issued shares.

Keck Seng has been paying 10 to 11 sen a share dividend for over 10 years but stopped paying any dividend in 2020 and 2021. Since it has made record profits in 2022, the company should declare a bumper dividend to compensate loyal investors.
2023-02-24 21:39 | Report Abuse
Excluding extraordinary gains, Keck Seng's earnings last year at over RM200 million or 56.65 sen a share was a record high. However record earnings is unlikely to translate into record dividend. I am expecting a final dividend of 6 sen a share. Anything extra is a bonus.

Two investment banks having two vastly different opinions on Petronas Chem, one called for a sell with a TP of RM6.54, the other called for a hold with a TP of RM8.18. Investors are confused. Now toss a coin, head follow RHB-OSK, tail follow HLG.

Ambank's net profit for the latest quarter jumped by 12% from a year earlier. Let's assume that RHB Bank didn't perform as well as Ambank and its earnings in the latest quarter improved by only 6% from a year earlier to 16.5 sen a share, taking full year earnings to 63 sen a share and assuming also final dividend is maintained at 25 sen a share. At RM5.48, RHB is trading at a PE of less than 9 and a dividend yield of well over 7.

Looks like today's fall is going to be more than yesterday's 40 sen drop. A few days ago, someone posted a comment on the i3investor for Maybank, ranting that Petronas Chemicals earned more than Maybank but hasn't been given the same valuation as Maybank. Investors now know why.
2023-02-23 16:22 | Report Abuse
Someone posted a comment on this forum several weeks ago arguing that Petronas Chemicals should be given the same or higher valuation than Maybank since its earnings exceeded that of Maybank. Today we know why. As far as consistency is concerned, Maybank is peerless.

Ignoring dividends, RHB bank's 52 week low is RM5.42 (it was RM5.43 less than an hour ago) and 52 week high is RM6.31. Buying RHB bank at this level can't be very wrong.

I hope Maybank could maintain its earnings at 2021 level after providing for 6% prosperity tax and pays at least 30 sen a share final dividend.

@happyking85, several investment banks have recently come out with buy/hold calls on MRCB, RHB-OSK with a buy call with TP of 45 sen, Kenanga and HLG with hold calls with TPs of 34 sen and 37 sen respectively. Do you think these investments banks are out to deceive people to buy?

Claiming on 25-11-21 that all GLC linked companies were losing big money, lawrence86, you lack credibility. You have to explain why MRCB is not a good buy, just like RHB-OSK, Kenanga and HLG have given their reasons for their buy/hold calls on MRCB.

Less than 140 million Keck Seng shares are in the hands of the public. The company only needs less than RM850 million to buy up all the public shareholding assuming it starts buying now and pays on average RM6 for the shares. So cheap to privatize Keck Seng.
