If you buy now at RM3.60 and the directors decide to take Keck Seng private at RM7 a share within the next 10 years, then it is still a very rewarding investment. If the directors decide to privatize it 25 years later at RM7 a share, the opportunity cost is then far too big.

All of us are retail investors. Even if one has RM5 million to invest but does the buying and selling himself, he is still considered a retail investor.

Very spectacular run from RM7.89 just over 5 to 6 months ago to RM9.98 and likely should break RM10. Just wonder how long can it last.

MRCB has been performing very badly over the past two and a half years, the worst in 30 years. Even during the Asian financial crisis of 1997/98, it didn't dip below 40 sen. It stayed above 45 sen in the world financial crisis of 2007/08 but this time round, without a financial crisis of any sort, it fell to a low of 28 sen a share lately. This is inexplicable.

RM5 a share is only hypothetical, even RM7 a share is way too low. Keck Seng should be worth RM16 to RM20 a share if all its assets were to be revalued. Too bad, interests of small investors are not well taken care of in this country.

Buy Keck Seng today and be prepared to wait for 5, 10, 15 or even 20 years. I still have Keck Seng shares bought before the 1 for 2 bonus issue in 1995.

@emsvsi, you really think retailers would buy Genting only after it has broken record high of RM12.88? Never think that retailers are bumpkins.

TA enterprise was privatized at 65.5 sen a share several years ago though it was worth a least RM2.25 a share. Majority shareholders of Keck Seng may do the same thing and offer RM5 a share to take Keck Seng private.

Still strong selling pressure. Hope this slowly eases as the date for the release of final quarter earnings approaches.

@speakup, what I have written all this while about Keck Seng are all very factual. There is no contradiction, I haven't bought any Keck Seng shares for about 8 years. Only waiting to sell and switch to Maybank/RHB bank.

MRCB hasn't closed above 40 sen a share for over a year. Now staying above 35 sen a share is a problems. So small investors, it may be some time before you see light at the end of the tunnel.

If the directors don't have any better ideas on what to do with the company's 1 billion cash, they should pass some cash to fund managers to earn better returns.

There was a big durian runtuh way back in 2010. After disposing of its holdings in Parkway Holdings and reaping a huge capital gain, it declared a one for two bonus. No more durian runtuh over the past 12 years, only a yearly dividend of 10 to 11 sen a share even though the company made over 30 sen a share in some years. No dividend declared in 2020 and 2021 though the company still made over 20 sen a share in 2019.

Keck Seng's outstanding performance for the quarter ending 30/09/22 is unlikely to be repeated in the final quarter as the US Dollar has weakened against the Ringgit. Foreign exchange losses for the final quarter should exceed RM10 million. Full year earnings should be around 50 sen a share.

With another two weeks to go before the announcement of RHB bank's final quarter results and dividend payment, there is only one direction it can head, ie north, not south or east or west.

Considering that Genting's quarterly earnings only amounted to around 9 sen a share in 2018 and 2019, making 6.6 sen a share in the final quarter of last year is already a great achievement.

We shouldn't be over optimistic. In case the earnings fail to meet our expectations, then we won't be too disappointed. It is a great achievement if earnings can improve by 100% over the previous quarter.

"However, to expect an average return of 3%+6.6%=9.6% is a bit optimistic.
10 years ago, It was 9.20 on 31.12.2012, and now it is lower at 8.75.
From then to now, in10.12 years time, the average annual return was 5.78%."
@i3gambler, if you want an additional meagre 3% return, you have to buy and sell the counter once or twice a year should an opportunity arise. Maybank shot up to RM11 immediately after GE14.

Ya, mate. So safe that I am considering withdrawing another 10% of my EPF savings to invest in Maybank and RHB bank. With EPF, you won't have capital gains but with Maybank/RHB bank, this is possible. A small realized capital gain of 3 to 5% per year will suffice, in addition to a dividend yield of 6.6%. Cheers

Maybank has held up well over the past few days. While a number of other banks have dropped by 6 to 8%, Maybank has dropped by only around 2%. A final dividend of not less than 30 sen a share would be announced soon and it should rise back to RM8.80 again.

The further it drops, the more attractive the stock becomes. Now RHB is trading at a prospective PE of only 9 and a dividend yield of 7.3%, twice 12 month fixed deposit rates.

This is a crazy suggestion. Macao's economy plunged by 21.5% in 2015 as a result of reduced spending by mainland Chinese visitors following an anti-corruption campaign by Xi Jinping. It plunged again by more than 50% in 2020. What kind of economy is it when the government derives over 50% of its revenue from gambling?
