EPF had been a NET SELLER paring down its stake to 14.171%@6/10/2015...What motivated EPF to trim down its equity stake in this stock?

What are the real drivers for crude oil price to increase further in the future besides just saying that it will go up???

Stock

What has changed over the past 1 week?
This stock had been overbought for past two trading days. EPF had been a NET SELLER and had pared down its equity stake to 14.171% @6/10/2015 from 15.202%@15/7/2015. Oil futures is starting to take a breather now. Renewable energy ie. Solar and Wind power had registered real growth over the past years. Europe, Japan, China, UK and lately USA are investing more in renewable energy. Consumables and equipment are becoming more energy efficient. Fracking technology is becoming more cost efficient. Can Elon Musk deliver the unthinkable??? Just take a look into energy efficient buildings that's sprouting up.

So what are the real drivers for crude oil price to increase further???

Looks like Crude Oil price had bottomed out and is now rebounding. Oil production in USA will continue to drop in the future.Iran had been exporting crude oil even under the Oil embargo. OPEC members ie. Saudis n its allies would rather sell crude oil at higher prices in the future. So too will the Russians..

The key question here is what is the future direction of crude oil?? Can OPEC and Russia work together to curb oil production in the future??

I can imagine that one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly and allow themselves to be consumed by emotional hateful thinking is because they sense that once hate is gone...they will be forced to deal with pain in dealing with the void in themselves....so they rather cling on to their hates...be in their comfort zones as they feel better..little did they realize that they are indeed a menace to themselves and to others...for those with an iota of objective driven thinking..it is still not too late..better late than never!!!

As the late Martin Luther King said...."Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"

Why persist in writing such hateful comments which waste everyone's time and worst still is totally unproductive??? Why write in the first place ??? What motivates one to hate ? Why must one allow oneself to be consumed by emotional driven thinking??? and why hide under multiple identities?? Do you have everything to hide and zero constructive comments to offer in this forum??

fortunebullz,
Syria was a rich secular peaceful society way back during Prophet Muhammad times. Prophet Muhammad had indeed visited Syria during the early days. Syria had been ripped apart by geopolitical powers compounded by religious discord between -Alawids n Shias against the Sunnis and the geopolitics is between the USA(and its allies) against Russia n its allies...somehow after the passing of prophet Muhammad, the Islamic world had become even more polarized, more divided between the Islamic Sunnis and the Islamic Shias.....This divide between the Shias and the Sunnis will continue in the future in the Middle East and they will continue to kill off each other.....It had happened for centuries with no end in sight...You may perhaps want to ask yourself this pertinent question... WHY THIS IS SO after the passing of Prophet Muhammad..What is the root causal factor for the continued fight through centuries between the Shias and the Sunnis???

So what Mr KYY had expressed that All Islamic Nations are getting worse: How can religious preachers rule??...indeed has a lot of credence and is a valuable learning experience for all Malaysians who want to live in peace, harmony and co-exist with one another. Malaysia must go back to its basic principle of preserving at all times its secular state...and become a shining example to all nations in this world especially to the Islamic world in the middle east which had been torn by religious discord for centuries.

One must not be guided by fear and emotional thinking but more so by clear strategic and objective driven "ALL INCLUSIVE thinking" ..Every Malaysian has a role to play in creating a better , more egalitarian, more peaceful, more tolerant society.....including you..

Mr KYY article covers two main topics
- Topic No 1: All Islamic Nations are getting worse: How can religious preachers rule?
-Topic No 2: Barisan's Death Spiral

Do you agree with the facts brought up by Mr KYY that all Islamic nations are getting worse: How can religious preachers rule??? or Is BN on a death spiral as stated by Mr KYY??

If you DO NOT agree with Mr KYY views please state your own views to counter , to convince the forumers here on your rationale on why you do not agree with the Topic No 1 and/or topic no 2.

Mr Raja Petra Kamarudin is very capable of expressing his views and his blog is testimony to his capability. However what are your views to counter and rebut Mr KYY current article content??

Whether you are a FA or TA practitioner, the ability to judge general trend is very essential. There are world renowned FA or TA gurus that need no further mentioning. Both FA and TA should not be completely separated because they are in a way associated and the interactive relationship between price, volume and time reflect the views of Investors. They vote for the future prospect with their funds.

In my view FA and TA are synonymous for Fundamental Value stocks as the known fundamentals at any point in time is already factored in the price. When new fundamental catalyst emerges, it will be in due time be reflected in the price action over time.

However professional short term traders/retailers have a penchant for GORENG stocks ( hoping to earn fast bucks) that lacks basic fundamental criteria for investment and its price action is solely determined by THE OPERATORS!!! If you ride on the right side with the operators, you will earn money..likewise if you are on the wrong side ..fools and their money will depart for sure!!

ks55, Price right just sell, Price not right, what do you do? Buy some more to average or just sell???

I will focus mainly on whether a company's biz model can continue to deliver future profits, increasing future EPS...I rely on basic TA charts for entry purpose ONLY and focus on FA info on past cashflows..

I will buy only at lowest or relative low. I went into EVERGREEN when it was just coming off its lows sometime in Nov-Dec 2014 as I see value in its improved business model which I concluded then that it will empower it to earn increasing future profits, increasing EPS.... The financials were not impressive then(although it had some good years in the past) but it had healthy cashflows all along although there were losses for quite sometime. Moreover I saw EVERGREEN as a turnaround cyclical stock...I see VALUE in what the controlling shareholders were doing in spending time and money in empowering its biz model and when the Q3 2014 results started to show profit for the first time, I just bought heavily into it. I am still holding it and I am up more than 100%. I had encouraged other investors in Datasonic forum to buy then but what I got was just scorn, ridicule and general blindness to new opportunity..Datasonic then was around 1.60 ...if any investor in Datasonic then had cut their losses and invested in EVERGREEN then, they will be laughing right now instead of crying and hoping.

At that time, the TA and FA were'nt good but I see VALUE in what the controlling shareholders were doing to its biz model..the rest is history...STAR even recommended a BUY yesterday!!!

At this level of klci index, market uncertainty, weak market sentiments, further downside is possible but most likely it is quite limited...market is now waiting for uncertainty to become a bit clearer...rebound is likely as market is already oversold...

FA alone can work if one has the competent skillsets to determine the intrinsic worth. If one does not have the competent skillsets then FA will not work. The key question is having acquired the skillsets, does one has the patience and the discipline of mindset to wait for the opportunity to buy at undervalued price or sell overvalued stocks...

Likewise it takes a certain trading mindset to be a successful trader...even though one is competent in TA trading knowledge...basically its about reading trend directions, price relative to certain moving averages, supports/resistances and oversold/overbought status

Whether it is FA or TA investors, the common problem is they know how to buy but dunno when to sell...or they love their stocks so much that they cannot part with it...

News & Blogs

2015-06-06 23:12 | Report Abuse

kcchongnz and OTB..come on guys..just relax and chill out..!!!

The financial discipline of FA will determine the INTRINSIC WORTH of any company under study...there are varying methodologies but they all share the same objective in determining the intrinsic worth of any company under study although the intrinsic values may differ based on different methodology and/or different assumptions using the same methodology. Nevertheless the main objective is to determine a VALUE for the intrinsic worth of the company under study..

Having determined a VALUE, the next decision is WHEN TO BUY or WHEN TO SELL???

At any point in time the market price maybe undervalued or overvalued versus the determined INTRINSIC WORTH ....so a savvy FA investor will buy when the market price is below the intrinsic value and sell when the market price is higher than its intrinsic worth. A savvy FA investor will accumulate investment capital/sell overvalued stocks and wait for the opportunity to buy undervalued stocks. A savvy FA investor requires financial skillsets to determine value, patience to wait for opportunity to buy or sell

A short term TA trader usually utilize Daily Chart patterns,1 min , 5 min etc candlestick chart, TA indicators, Price Volume action plus other advanced algorithm to buy at low/relative low and sell at high/relative high...the stocks traded may be Fundamental stocks or it may just be non fundamental momentum stocks or stocks where the fundamentals has yet to translated into future results or in process of being factored in market price...the short term trader will follow the main operator and ride along with the main operator to make the trading profits. However not anyone can be a successful trader as it takes a certain mindset to be a successful trader..I know of friends who are competent in TA knowledge, loves to trade but lack the mindset or killer instinct to be a successful trader. So they end up as losers.

There is another way of investing which we all know from Mr Koon Yew Yin who honed his investment experience through a businessman perspective...buy when a company is making profits, increasing profits/increasing EPS with PE much lesser than 10

How will you determine VS value in the degree of closeness it has developed with one of its key customers??

Do you still clamour for and/or yearn for high end finance with reported past financial infos to give you the comfort zone with highest degree of confidence??

“Games are won by players who focus on the playing field –- not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard.”
― Warren Buffett

Even Warren Buffet KNOWS FOR SURE that VALUE is created by those who focus on the playing field.

So what is VALUE? The usual approach is as follows

- DCF? one need to impute assumptions and different assumptions will give different values
- NTA?
- NAV?
- EPS?
- PE?
- PEG?
- Net Cash per share?

Lets face it...there is no one absolute value of a particular company but different values based on the varying methods in determining value of a company at one point in time...SO THE FACT IS THERE ARE DIFFERING VALUES OF A PARTICULAR COMPANY at one point in time...These VALUES are determined from scoreboard info where the eyes can easily glue onto...Annual Reports, Quarterly Reports

Can anyone determine VALUE with high degree of confidence? Moreover VALUES DIFFER FOR DIFFERENT ASSUMPTIONS,DIFFERENT METHODOLOGY...

SO THE NEXT QUESTION IS....IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO DETERMINE VALUE???

Warren Buffet had stated that “Games are won by players who focus on the playing field"

So what does that mean? To me its very simple...it is PLAYERS in the playing field who invest time, money to improvise, enhance its business model that empowers the company to deliver increasing INCREASING TURNOVER, INCREASING PROFITS, INCREASING EPS..If a company uses its internal funds or source external funds to empower its business model ...why not???

I AGREE WITH MR KOON YEW YIN METHOD IN DETERMINING VALUE FROM A BUSINESSMAN PERSPECTIVE

Mr Koon's investment advise all along is to develop a businessman mindset to invest in companies where the controlling shareholders had invested their time, money to improvised further its biz model which further empowers the company to deliver increasing profits and increasing EPS over time. Of course the weakened Ringgit is a bonus factor but the primary root causal factor is the improved biz model that empowers further gains in turnover, profits and EPS.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has fired another salvo at embattled Datuk Seri Najib Razak, saying the prime minister had "lied" over the status of 1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB) US$1.103 billion (RM3.6 billion) which was said to have been kept at the BSI Bank in Singapore.

In referring to Najib's parliamentary reply on the matter earlier this week, the former prime minister said any "cover up" or attempting to hide a mistake in government affairs was an offence under the law.

He said it comes under Section 218 of the Penal Code and felt that the police should investigate the matter.

"I am very sad that I cannot avoid from saying that the prime minister had lied. The first lie was that no cash from 1MDB was repatriated back.

"Secondly, there was no cash in BSI Bank in Singapore. It was clear from the latest reply that there was no cash totalling USD1.103 billion that was in BSI Bank but documents that were kept in it.

"What are the documents is unclear but what is known is that it is clearly not cash," he wrote in his blog today.

AAX had hit bottom and rebounded with a strong candle yesterday. Those who bought the OR yesterday at 5 cents or below 5 cents will most likely be in the money in the future as their cost of purchase of 1 new AAX share = 5 + 22= 27 cents. The new rights comes with 0.5 new AAX Warrant. Warrant price in KLSE is normally between 0.33 to 0.5 AAX mother share.

In the worst case scenario where AAX share stabilize at 0.27, the new warrant price is expected to be between 9 and 13.5 cents. So the investors will have a gain of 4.5 cents if AAX stabilize at 27 cents. If AAX improves on its future financial performance and AAX mother share price reaches say 45 cents, the new investor will have a capital gain of 18 cents(45 cents-27 cents) plus a warrant gain of 7.5 cents(0.5 X 15 cents) ...a potential gain totaling 25.5 cents with an investment cost of 27 cents or below....

The risk reward favors those who had invested in the OR yesterday at say 5 cents or below.
