Jtiasa price own might be due to the perception of ringgit strengthening affecting the price. As mentioned, elnino effect on palm oil price is 6 months later. Do have a look at the research paper. Elnino normally bad for plantation because less rainfall & it stress the tree but this become ideal for plantation in sarawak. Plantation normally need 200omm rainfall annually but in sarawak, it is 4000mm annually which lead to poor pollination. Because of elnino, it makes rain less and ideal for palm oil there.

i normally don't agree much with calvin super bullishness in stock but i concur with him on the impact of elnino on palm oil. There is a research paper that is very much worth reading on elnino effect on palm oil in malaysia. Sarawak plantation actually benefited from elnino where it reduces the rainfall. The impact actually come 6 to 12 months later.

i believed demand for furniture is still there. Since fuel has become cheaper, there will be saving on consumer ends. There will be extra money in the pocket. Hence, there is high chances those saving use to purchase household thingy such as furniture. Also with the housing in US recovering, demand will too.

production price between 1300-1750. My boss use to be estate manager. He said when price are bad, plantation normally scale down on fertilizer as the it is one of the biggest operational cost. But when palm oil price increase, they will full swing on the fertilizer. It can quickly reap huge yield if the trees are 6th to 15 years old.

I normally don't agree with Calvin especially when he call buy for tmakmur. But after gathering info on palm oil grower and also palm oil mill fabricator, they expecting good results from plantation in coming month. I know one vertical sterilizer manufacturer has seen his order double. Hence, i'm buying some plantation stock.

My company recently hold a forum of climate change and we have expert to talk about climate change and MPOB and an economist/analyst as special guest. the take away from the forum is due to the el nino and hotter climate, palm oil yield will drop because apparently the tree will change from female to male. Hence less fruits. Also, there is a palm oil disease which is garnoderma which is a concern to palm oil player. All of this lead to lower crops produce. Hence they expect palm oil price to increase.

base on RM 4.40 to USD 1....it has strengthen by 5%. Unless we predict RM strengthen further to be below 4, then there will be a significant difference. Hovering above 4 will still being po huat a good margin in earning. Not that I wish RM to be forever low but current sentiment for Malaysia is not rosy especially with Malaysia political issues. Many reputable financial magazine talking on our beloved country.
By the way, does TPPA benefit pohuat? I believed it should.

Tmakmur dividend does not have a fix dividend policy. Hence the 8.5% is not a sure thing. It will benefit from bauxide again once restriction is lift up but next quarter report will not be nice. Train to KL to kuantan will boost sale? I guess not in this short term. When there is lynas, ppl also reluctant to go. Now with bauxide issue, some more less visit. Hv relative in kuantan. They all ask dun come to kuantan to visit.

HI OPMS, thanks for highlighting on palm oil usage. Indeed true that palm oil vastly use and currently those demand already accounted. If fuel price high, global demand remain strong, then with el nino, it will boost up CPO price. Due to both going down, it will offset the el nino effect in my opinion. Also as pointed out by calvin, Bauxite contribute mainly to the property segment. Hence the figure stated is 1/2 or 1/3 of quarterly revenue. Hence I believe next quarter will be impacted and not accounted to any penalty if there is any contract delivery that need to meet. . US rebound yesterday and I believed most stk will do the same. It is just my flaw opinion.

Will CPO price really shoot up due to el nino? With crude price so low, there is no point to hv biodiesel. Hence the allocation of CPO to biodiesel is no longer that attractive. So demand for cpo will be offset.

I believed highly possible KPS to drop below 1. I run thru the 2014 AR and generally the revenue as below.
Infrastructure & Utilities - 220.77M - Abbass
Hospitality, Golf Club & Recreational - 26.36M - Golf club close, hotel close for renovation.
Trading - 55.02M
Investment Holding -11.88M
In total 2014 revenue is 314.04M
With the selling of Abbass & closing of hospitality, it taken off 246M out of the 314M. It is almost 80% of the revenue. Selling abbas will only give KPS another 75M. and hence next Q revenue will be 143M but this is 1 off. Once abbass sold, the only valuable asset is sprint & splash while the rest investment is not well know. Will KPS able to find another golden goose? I believed it is tough. There is no business that can give kps such as good margin. it does pare down the debt but it lost its high profit income. Also, banking on the 30% equity they have on splash is too far fetch. Selangor government offering 1.8B but stakeholder claim it is 3B. It will take long before it can reach agreement. Even if that succeed, it will turn into cash rich company but with no business. Will kps face the same destiny as puncak. Just my opinion base on quick glance on the AR. Maybe there are many flaws in the assumption.

Tmakmur involved in bauxite mining. It contribute 22% of FY14 revenue. With recent bauxite issues in Kuantan, cabinet seeking to suspend bauxite mining. Will this affect its revenue?
Also, if proven there is environmental impact from these mining, there is potential legal implication.
Tmakmur derived 50% from property and their landbank is in kuantan. As far as I know, more younger generation are moving out from kuantan due to the heavy industry like lynas and now bauxite. So will the property be affected?
