The typical price ticket is US$130? Not many will able to afford. Imagine if travelling everyday from home to workplace, what kind of salary we need. Used to travel for work to Seremban from KL, the toll and petrol around RM500 per month. Furthermore the project may not awarded to Japan but China...
Not for this luxury project, HSR, which only benefit high income group (ASk them to take flights lah!). Infrastructure development can be for others that help low-to-medium income group such as LRT-MRT projects.
When you have 10 outstanding credit cards balance do you still decides to buy a brand new car because its safer? No you bite your teeth either travel by bus or use a motorbike.
in fact, the world order has been create to serve debt..that why mahathir before try to use other currency to trade with China, (barter system) and try to use gold (kijang emas) but oppression come from the superpower very strong...if he doing it maybe he will like Gadhafi...so we must support other system, beside this fiat money from now on. thats only will safe us...
I find your argument on road safety just to build HSR too simplistic and most absurd.
While the debt to GDP ratio is 50%, 80% or 200% is MOOT (depend on definition - 2 accountants already do not agree much less non-accountants arguing over this); again comparing countries will be meaningless if they are all not measured to the same (international) basis.
The purpose of having HSR or not should be base on benefit to the country, i.e. Malaysia; not only road safety but also economic and societal.
From the economic angle - my view is it benefit Singapore ONLY. In Malaysia only the rich, to increase the choices they have to go spend money in Singapore. What is there in KL that Singaporean cannot get in Singapore (and better some more).
The societal - through the (major to rural) roads, and Malaysian communities are much more disperse compared with Singapore that is a City state. The improvement of public transportation to the major and rural communities would be much more beneficial than HSR for sure. It will increase the mobility of the community between the urban / rural divide, a movement that will touch more people than HSR ever will.
it is only for short term boosting the infrastructure and surrounding asset, after that tonnes of debt and HSR operator will fall in trouble and required million from Gov to bail out.....why those property investor don't get it.
the key issues with the ecrl and hsr is the cost of financing it. Ticket not enough to cover bcoz locals can't afford it or have alternatives. Perhaps I would say that these projects are not feasible as of now but maybe in the future when the country get more developed, ppl's spending power increases, then currency goes up, then it may be more affordable. Of coz if we look at HSR, Singapore only developed about i think 15km of tracks, while our side developed i think about 300km. So the cost to singapore is much much lower than our side, Singapore definitely stand to gain more because their cost is low and their currency is X3 ours, so definitely on average they can afford the HSR ticket fees more than us locals.
and of course an increase in population coupled with good economic fundamental in future will make it more affordable to implement such projects. So currently , i think priority of harapan should be on strengthen the fundamental of the country and developing human capital
If Hsr is cancelled those Sporeans as well as Malaysians who bought lands or assets near all 7 HSR stations will be disappointed. Those who overpaid in aticipation might even suffer losses if they try to sell if no holding power.
The idea that Spore might benefit more than Malaysia is still not confirmed by market reality.
About 300,000 to 500,000 Malaysians from all over Johor, Batu Pahat, Kluang(one third of population), Muar, Melaka, Seremban, and Kl are working in Singapore.
As they do take long distance travel to and from Spore for work these should be the beneficiaries as they earn in Strong Sing Dollars and spend in ringgit.
I see lots of workers from China, India as well as many other nationalities working in Spore. I think with HSR many more Malaysians might take over from them as HSR will make it a seamless network for commuting to Spore.
Example work and Stay in Spore on Weekdays and return to stay in Seremban or Kl during the weekend. No need to buy or pay for Singapore cars which is the most expensive in the world.
Since Spore GDP is USD55,000 compared to Malaysia's GDP of USD11,000 which is 5x more the wealth effect of getting High paying jobs in Spore and living in low cost Malaysia will translate into a powerful dynamic growth region from KL all the way along Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Iskandar, Johor newly formed PH Stronghold.
Seremban has voted PH as one voice. So is Melaka , Muar and Johor the previous BN stronghold that fell like tent pins to PH.
SO IT IS THE DUTY OF PH TO THINK OF THEIR LONG TERM GOOD RATHER THAN IF SPORE OR MALAYSIA SHOULD BENEFIT MORE OR LESS.
IF INDONESIA, THAILAND AND INDIA SHOULD HAVE THEIR HSR WITH SIMILAR COST FACTORS IS MALAYSIA SO POOR NOW AS TO BE UNABLE TO AFFORD ONE?
AND IT IS A MATTER OF TIME EVEN VIETNAM, CAMBODIA, MYANMAR, NEPAL, PAKISTAN AND BANGLADESH HAVE THEIR NETWORKS OF HSR WITH COMPETING BIDDING BY CHINA, JAPAN AND KOREA.
ALSO THINK OF CHINA WHICH HAS 22,000 KM OF HSR TRACKS WHICH IS ABOUT THE LENGTH OF OVER 30 PLUS HIGHWAYS THAI BORDER TO SECOND LINK TUAS SPORE.
IS CHINA SO RICH TO SPEND 22,000 KM OF HSR RAIL OR MALAYSIA TOO POOR TO AFFORD EVEN 3% OF WHAT CHINA HAS ALREADY GOT UP AND RUNNING EVERYWHERE...?
Might be UEM S may gain. Since those working in S'pore cannot stay in their hometown eg KL, Seremban, etc they might as well move to JB for cheaper properties.
See too pug Calvintaneng real STUPID. no need built a multi billion HSR but PH know what to do to make the causeway more efficen and time safer. U go back to your kiasu singland and malaysian no need you. Porak. Pui!!
dont be surprised by mark up cost of projects, if u look at the auditor general report, there are always lots of procurements which are double or more of the actual cost.
Msians work force in Singapore will be ok. So far still survive the travelling. Also, its time to keep local talents for own use,to re build our nation. Enuf brain drain to Singapore.
Now gamuda , mrcb and ytl the winners of the now dead HSR will get dumped.. Properties along the hsr station..ie iskandar, muar , batu pahat , seremban , melaka and bandar msia will drop..the land earlier probably jack up and bought by those cronies... So its good to ordinary msian.. cheap property price and now no GST .. vry good for normal citizen.. Not good for calvin as his property in iskandar will drop
So property counters will drop like sime , ijm , uem, gamuda, ecoworld, etc..since earlier they must be buying and hoarding lands along the hsr terminal at top price... Now property prices will be more affordable to the rakyat msia.
GST removed, revenue will be lost, One of the main reason BN lost bcoz their policies or way they do things increase cost of living. One of it is properties went up a lot, if you claim HSR increase lands/property a lot, if Harapan continue supporting it, they will be booted as well.
What for earn high pay just to pay the high cost of living! Gomen should decrease the cost of living, increase quality of living. Make basic stuff very affordable.
In 2008 the Malaysian government halted the project citing high-costs of over RM8 billion. From myr8billion initial cost increase to myr110billion within 10 year lag...how to swallow??
We don't have the money. End of story. Nobody can afford to pay RM300 per way from KL to Singapore for daily commute. Even for those who stay in Johor and need to fork out RM150 per way. Who can afford RM300 x 22 working day = RM6600 per month to travel to work from Johor to Singapore? Even with 20% discount for frequent commuter, that would be RM5280. That would be around SGD1800. Unless that person easily earn SGD15K, I dont think anyone in their right minds would want to stay in Malaysia while work in Singapore. Maybe for weekend travel still possible but would that justify the cost of building it when the train is half empty from Monday to Friday but fully occupied on weekends?
this calvin really problematic minded, japan and malaysia are totally not comparable, japan population is about 7x more than malaysia, japan built shinkansen on their own without any foreign infrastructure and technology players participation thus japan had the economy scale to justify shinkansen hsr project but not malaysia.
since calvin is so unknowledgeable, let me tell you indonesia population is as many as japan india population is slightly more than 1.3b thailand population is 2.x time more than malaysia see it watery brain
The kl spore air route being the hottest is just an indicator of the prevailing boom in Asia Pacific Center.
More underlying positives are the rise of trade within Asean, China, Korea and Japan to the North, India to the West and Indonesia, Australasia to the South.
So many more trucks and lorries will travel south to Iskandar and Spore for import and export of goods and services
SO HSR IS NOT AN OPTION BUT A NECCESSITY
100 YEARS AGO THE FIRST CAR TOOK ONE FULL DAY TO TRAVEL FROM KL TO KELANG
TODAY WITH KLANG VALLEY EXPRESSWAY IT TAKES ONLY ONE HOUR
SO IS THE INTERNET. ALL COPPER WIRES CHANGED TO OPTIC FIBER FOR THE SPEED OF LIGHT
HSR BEING THE FASTEST AND SAFEST LAND TRANSPORT IS THE ULTIMATE FOR GROWTH AND PROGRESS
