Another good reason for investing in Asb is it's cash rich and asset rich position
Not so for many over leveraged companies with high debts and little cash In coming months as companies going to report tepid profits many will be hard up to pay back bank loans
So there will go by way of private placement to raise capital. If no one interested then they will give Rights Issue with free warrants
Another one is XOX going to give Rights issue to pay bank loans or else it will go into default
So stick with Asb for it will get Rm124 millions cash soon
Calvin tan just put his own self under the bus by reposting his comments in 2014. From zero respect he has made me lose even more respect for him and his stock pick skills. In 2014 he bought a dead end stock, going up her promoted kaw kaw saying it is worth xxx... But if you followed his full recommendations he conveniently left out how much he bought and how much he sold ASB. But the fact is in 5 years the stock has been a dead end. Only Calvin will say he make big profit can see the future Chun Chun buy and Chun Chun sell.
The funny thing is with all his comparing himself to Peter Lynch, none of his stocks have stood the test of time.
In retrospect, in the similar time period I had bought into YINSON, and because I had confidence in the business every quarter I topped up my investment without fail, knowing that only wonderful businesses will give you the faith to buy on weakness, average up/down and just hold.
If this is Calvin idea of eating steak, thank God I am a vegetarian.
Today I visited Family Mart and tried the much touted wasabi icecream cone
This is my findings
1. At Rm2.90 it is quite expensive compared to McDonald milk icecream cone at only Rm1.00
Of course mostly palm oil milk substitute
2. Is the purported value and taste of Family Mart wasabi icecream justified for it's high price?
A. I think overpriced as it is not the same type of wasabi I tasted in Kyoto, Japan when I last visited there
2. The wasabi in Malaysia is made from wasabi powder which retails for Rm35 a kg. Whereas the wasabi in Japan icecream is made from fresh wasabi.
Wasabi can only be grown in cold, pure running stream in Japan. So it is maintained fresh in pure cool stream.
I think there might be some coloring as there is no oomph in the wasabi ice cream here unlike Japan where you get a kick like chilli.
I think this will be my final and final try of Family Mart wasabi icecream
Better go for McDonald icecream cone at only Rm1.00
McDonald one taste smoother as it is not made from powder
Only 20 to 25% are original products sold in Family Mart. Rest is made in Malaysia. I saw Tong Gardens product sold there as well as many other Malaysia made products
It's Swiss roll retails for Rm3.10. I think 7 Eleven sells cheaper
Overall it is a 50/50 gamble for Family Mart with it's expensive franchise and products
How to buy QL at above Rm6.00 as the business model is still new in Malaysia
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
