nice try calvin :-) ... looks like we are heading for a recession if Fed and BNM further increases rates, as this will bring down demand, and bring down consumer purchases, which will bring down demand for palm oil, and other as well..... brace for a prolonged downturn, preserve cash and take a rest from investing.... just my opinion
Things we consume but which are not necessities will be affected like Luxury goods, expensive cars, and all other wants but not needs necessary for life and survival

Cooking oil all still need to eat food
Tooth paste. Heard of Colgate palm-olive? palm oil is used in tooth paste, shampoo and soap
Maggie and instant noodles a basic survival food that contain 15% to 20% palm oil
Detergent palm oil is used in detergent for washing clothes
Break fast cereal and Milo Nestle in Malaysia is the biggest user of palm oil
Chocolate and cakes, cookies
Hershey in Johor is a very big factory using lots of palm oil
So for food and hygiene lots of palm oil will still be needed even in recession
others are
pet food infant formula (has 25% palmic acid ) senior milk formula ice cream biscuit bread all got palm oil
50% of Supermarket got palm oil
and palm oil has 44% palmic acid while soybean only 11% palmic acid
FED WILL HAVE TO CRASH THE MARKETS M BRING INTEREST RATES UP... INFLATION AT 8.6 N RATES AT 1% MEANS??? TO BRING INFLATION 8.6 DOWN RATES NEED TO BE WHERE??? LOL.. SIMPLE ANSWER...
like Sri Lanka which banned palm oil and caused inflation to spike up from single digit to 18% which bankrupted it USA banning palm oil from ioi corp and simedarby plant is now wrecking havoc on its consumers by 18% (not the 8.3% inflation we hear)
how could canola flower (small like mustard seed) and soybean (a shrub) compared to palm oil (60 feet tall ) in it's prolific production of palmic acid ?
