THE potential emergence of a couple of high-profile shareholders in smallish, loss-making Flonic Hi-Tech Bhd is bound to pique investor interest in the weeks to come.

So far, the manufacturer of critical and precision cleaning systems for various industries has announced that Tan Siew Ching who is the granddaughter of the late Tan Sri Tan Yuet Foh - founder of Tan Chong Motors Holdings Bhd - has increased her stake in the company to a substantial 6.72%.

Tan bought 10 million shares at 10 sen each on July 15 and another 7 million shares at 10.5 sen each a day later, pushing her small stake in the firm to that percentage.

Following this, market talk has it now that a well known oil and gas industry player could potentially surface as a major shareholder in the company too.

Why all these changes is not very clear at the moment but they do suggest that something is cooking in this firm, which is currently loss-making.

While speculation is still swirling as to who that oil and gas personality is, sources say it is former Perisai Petroleum Bhd major shareholder Nagendran Nadarajah.

The shares and warrants of Flonic Hi-Tec Bhd may increase investors’ interest as the company is in the final stage of completing its rights issue.

Flonic has proposed to raise up to RM36.7 mil via a rights issue of up to 524.9 million new shares together with up to 349.9 million free warrants on the basis of one rights share for every existing share together with two free warrants for every three rights shares subscribed at an issue price of seven sen per rights share.

Datin Tan Siew Ching, the granddaughter of Tan Chong Motors Holdings Bhd’s founder the late Tan Sri Tan Yuet Foh, looks set to consolidate her position in the company. She started to emerge as a substantial shareholder last year. The share price of Flonic ended trading on Oct 29 at six sen.

Siew Ching, Flonic’s single largest shareholder with 51.16 million shares representing a 12.8% stake, has undertaken to subscribe for at least 71.43 million shares pursuant to her entitlement of 51.16 million rights shares and via excess application for at least 20.27 million rights shares. Siew Ching may end up with as much as a 22.6% stake in Flonic under the minimum scenario.

In the rights issue prospectus, Flonic indicated it is mitigating its exposure to its original precision cleaning system division, including an option to phase out this activity in the next two years. Its new principal activities include project management, interior fit-out, manufacturing and trading of wood furniture. These businesses are mostly undertaken by Jiwa Holdings Sdn Bhd (Jiwa).

Datin Tan Siew Ching....maybe is buying back the shares ...just look at the huge buying queue...slowly...eating 5 sen, 5.5 sen, 6 sen...now 6.5 sen....slowly ...tomorrow...hopefully eat finish 8 sen or 10 sen...that will be interesting...

Yes grand daughter of Tan chong motors ....Datin Tan Siew Ching largest shareholder of Flonic. I really optimistic this stock will steal the lime light once again. Another Wintoni in the making.
