2招扭轉飲食業虧損

《資匯》7年前曾專訪廖俊亮，但在該公司投資飲食業後便不曾再跟進報道，如今再次碰面，與他細談公司現況、發展策略與業務前景。

他在訪談中不違言，公司過去數年業績起伏不定， 2016至2017財政年（ 12月31日結賬）更陷入虧損，但他特別點出說，占公司營收逾88%的眼鏡業務需求向來穩定，並且持續獲利，導致公司2016與2017陷入虧損的是飲食業務。

飲食業和眼鏡業風馬牛不相及，但焦點眼鏡當初卻毅然投入，創立「Komugi」品牌高檔日式麵包連鎖店，還有名為「Fuwari」的日式甜品店。經營了近7年，焦點眼鏡始終未能讓飲食業務替公司賺錢。就以2019財政年首季（截至3月31日止）而言，飲食業務仍蒙受12萬令吉稅前虧損。

對表現不達標的飲食業，他解釋道，由於飲食業務對焦點眼鏡而言是全新嘗試，進入這行業後的幾年交了不少「學費」，包括賣不完的麵包、蛋糕等帶來的耗損，使這祥項業務在這些年來都面對嚴峻挑戰。

他指出，由於焦點眼鏡多年來和各大商場建立了穩固合作關係，可確保其麵包店租到位置良好店舖，因此，當年才放膽闖進陌生的飲食業。他承認，跨入飲食業後，才發現一些此前沒有察覺的問題和挑戰，不過，經過這些年累積起來的經驗，他相信已找到了讓飲食業務轉虧為盈的策略。

廖俊亮的信心源自於2項因素。一是擴大和多元化目標客戶；二是Komugi中央廚房在2018年1月取得的清真（ Halal）認證。

他表示，Komugi如今不再只做門市生意，也開始批發，以代工（ OEM）方式為大馬全家（ Family Mart）等供應麵包及蛋糕產品。「批發生意無需擔心賣不完造成的耗損，只需照約定供應商品予客戶即可，是否能賣完不再是焦點眼鏡須煩惱及承擔的問題。」

他指出，公司仍在和其他潛在客戶商談，以增加批發客戶，飲食業務目前的門市收入依然比批發高，但相信批發的貢獻將會很快追上並超越零售業務。

「我們和一家大公司的談判已來到尾聲，但目前不便透露更多詳情。」

至於清真認證可帶來的助力，廖俊亮稱，公司的麵包店原本就有馬來客戶光顧，但取得相關認證可進一步提升馬來客戶對其食品的信心，飲食業務在去年的業績表現改善便說明這點。

「飲食業務雖然繼續虧錢，但虧損額已顯著收窄，這也是帶動公司在上財政年轉虧為盈的原因之一。」

焦點眼鏡的飲食業務在2018財政年蒙受210萬令吉稅前虧損，比2017財政年的353萬令吉稅前虧損減少了41%。2019財政年首季的12萬令吉稅前虧損，比去年同期的88萬令吉虧損，縮減了86%。

飲食業務虧損減少，加上眼鏡產品需求回溫，使得焦點眼鏡今年首季淨利按年暴漲92倍，至215萬令吉。

他表示，現財政年的首要任務是讓飲食業務轉虧為盈，或至少不再扯眼鏡業務的後腿，他有信心可以達至這目標。

「公司的麵包連鎖點品牌在汶萊和菲律賓都有加盟店，菲律賓的加盟店更已擴展到15家，國外加盟店的良好表現將會對其飲食業務帶來更大助力。」

SST重啟 眼鏡銷量回溫

對於發展成熟的眼鏡業務，廖俊亮指出，消費稅（ GST）在2016年實施後，其眼鏡銷量2016和2017財政年明顯受到打擊，盈利下滑，再加上飲食業務的虧損，造成公司在這2個財政年蒙受虧損。不過，自從新政府重啟銷售及服務稅（ SST）來取代消費稅後，眼鏡銷量已經反彈。「消費稅其實對商家的盈利沒有任何影響，但令眼鏡產品售價提高6%，卻會影響消費者的購買能力；除了太陽眼鏡，一般眼鏡產品不須繳付SST，所以，重啟SST後，公司的眼鏡銷量已經回溫。」從上財政年各季度業績來看，焦點眼鏡營收從第3季開始顯著按季上漲，並在最旺的末季達到5021萬令吉。現財政年首季營收為4573萬令吉，雖因季節性因素而按季下滑，但相比環境還未改善的去年同期，上漲了11.60%。消費稅被取消後，他對公司的眼鏡業務保持樂觀，並認為眼鏡產品目前的銷售動力可持續下去。無論如何，由於眼鏡產品是個競爭異常激烈的市場，加上規模有限，他指出，目前占國內約20%市占率的焦點眼鏡會謹慎擴張。「公司在國內已有近190家分店，接下來增設新店時會更為謹慎，選擇性在關鍵商場開店，同時會繼續根據各家分店的業績來決定去留。」他透露，雖然大馬眼鏡市場仍有潛力，我國近視族群也有越來越年輕的趨勢，但人口始終只有3000多萬人，而全國眼鏡店總數卻高達5000到6000間。因此，開拓海外市場是公司接下來必走的路。他指出，和旗下麵包店一樣，焦點眼鏡傾向於採用加盟方式，和國外業者合作開發海外市場，而東南亞市場，包括其飲食業務已進駐的菲律賓是首要目標。

「開拓陌生的市場不是件易事，加盟模式可降減公司的風險。」

他表示，公司曾在2000年前往中國和台灣開設自主的門市店，但兩三年後就結業。因此，公司今後再次踏出大馬，不希望重蹈覆轍。

凸顯產品服務優勢保競爭

無論如何，短期內國內眼鏡業務依然會是焦點眼鏡的支柱，要如何確保競爭優勢？

他稱，專業和優質服務是公司的最大優勢，在公司近190家門市店中，有逾220位正規光學師或驗光師坐鎮，保證客戶享有專業服務。同時，部份門市店還具備特殊驗眼設備，可檢查青光眼、白內障等眼疾，甚至是糖尿病、高血壓等，為客戶提供附加價值。

「面對激烈競爭，公司不能跳下紅海打價格戰，而是要在產品和服務方面凸顯我們的優勢。」

焦點眼鏡的眼鏡業務今年首季取得7.40%稅前賺幅，廖俊亮認為這樣的賺幅已屬不錯，但還有進步空間。他認為未來可取得10%至12%的雙位數賺幅。

「公司可以繞過中間代理人，直接從意大利等地進口眼鏡，加上擁有自行研發的品牌，因此賺幅會比同行較佳。不過，他指出，公司的門市店多半在商場內，商場租金昂貴，會壓制賺幅。

眼鏡市場需求穩固，並且不斷成長，加上飲食業逐步走上正軌，是廖俊亮對公司前景充滿信心的主因。公司股價也因業績的好轉而回升。

焦點眼鏡年初至今股價急漲35.2仙或192%，周五（ 26日）閉市報53.5，是2010年上市以來的高峰。以2018財政年每股盈利計算，本益比為9.57倍。

FamilyMart Malaysia to open 300 more stores by 2022

QL Resources, the Malaysian operator of Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart, is going ahead with plans to open 300 stores by March 2022, despite a slump in the economy. The firm opened 30 FamilyMart Malaysia outlets within the last financial year and plans to reach 90 new stores for the year ending March 31, 2019.

“We still stick to our plan to open 300 stores in five years”, said QL chairman Chia Song Kun.

Market leadership in the territory is currently controlled by 7-Eleven Malaysia, which operates more than 2000 stores in Malaysia. A major shareholder in the firm recently announced plans to open another 200 outlets this year.

Malaysian spending is increasingly focused on domestic trade as exports continue to be affected by the US-China trade war.
