KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 17): Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd, in collaboration with Bursa Malaysia Bhd launched its Securities Borrowing and Lending (SBL) to enable retail investors to lend out their idle shares and earn interest income over and above the dividends they would normally receive.

In a statement today, Affin Hwang said the retail SBL enables investors to lend assets which they already own but do not intend to sell immediately, to Afiin Hwang Investment Bank, as the borrower.

Affin Hwang said retail SBL is part of the efforts to boost retail interest in the market.

I also think it sounds like shorting right? Borrow from you now.. sell it .. a year later, buy back from market much cheaper .. return to you + small interest.

no need to pledge Gken or mrch share ...nowadays, bank keep on calling to give you free loan up to 100k, esp to credit card holders.

4 % interest, consider high la.. , ca easilly get 3.99 from certain banks. I thought ..if we pledge some collateral, interest should be minima, mayb 1-2% la, coz less risk to bank to get back $$$.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 18): The government has terminated the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract awarded to China contractor China Communications Construction Co Ltd (CCCC) for the RM81 billion East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, a source told theedgemarkets.com today.

CCCC was instructed to stop all construction works and services regarding the ECRL project by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on July 3 last year until further notice, pending a review.

The ECRL is among several mega projects being reviewed by the current Pakatan Harapan government, in this case due to the cost of undertaking the ambitious railway link that forms part of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
