I looked up the latest quarterly report and indeed, Hapseng is a borderline 33.6% borrowing /total asset (so whats the big deal?). HSCB also has RM500 million in cash so I do not think liquidity is a issue.
I also tried to find the biggest 30 shareholders but could not find it in the latest annual report 31/12/2014. Do any of you folks know a source? I know the owner owns close to 75%.
I see this as a "flash in the pan" situation. As usual the market has over reacted and someone is looking to fleece unsuspecting shareholders off their HSCB shares. The fundamentals are still there and I would buy some more when the situation turns around.
Its probably a no big deal. Its just BIMB Securities coming out with a report saying that HSCB could be taken off the Syariah compliant list. Its NOT a fact. Its not even speculation. Tabung Haji has not said anything about this. I remember discussing about this before last year and it just went away. In fact I always assumed that HSCB cannot and has never being Syariah compliant because it has a credit giving subsidiary. Anyway 33.6% is a rough calculation and as HSCB is a profitable company, given time the number will reduced to compliant...so where is the problem?? Stay rational.
LY the same number was 37.7% borrowing /total asset so 33.6% is already a huge improvement. I would not take BIMB's report seriously but that's just my point of view.
Slightly too late to realise my WA profit earlier else, this could translate into a good opportunity to buy in at lower price. The moral of story: Dont be too greedy !!!
when this counter fall off the list, does this mean that the Islamic fund has to dispose their shares in this counter. If this is me I wont sell off ! anyone one can share their views?

Close to oversold again. Better decision if it sticks long enough below 30 to know if can move again. My guess is if fall to 4.18 (if happen) or lower may be desirable to buy again
Better sell those who want to sell and put your 50 sen in some pariah penny stock, if u please. No need to get ur panties twisted over this or that list, or come up with some ridiculous conclusion.
