share swap or cash? Berjaya Land Bhd (BLand) is buying a 75.0% stake in Icelandair Hotels in a US$53.6 mln (RM222.0 mln) deal that would allow the group to enter the luxury hotel segment in Iceland. The proposed acquisition is in line with the group’s geographical diversification and revenue expansion. (The Edge Daily)

10.6 million buyers @18 sens today is an indication of market support regardless of artificial efforts to suppress the price..anyway the 18 sens base is good Fung Shui for VT's decision to take advatage of Icelandair's decision to divest it's profit making division to focus on its core Biz of aviation with the market vacuum left by Wow Air's demise in Europe..

Today's volume of 10M is real disappointment.
As mentioned earlier, any price reversal needs volume of at least 50M.
Real action comes in with volume of at least 100M.
So, expect more of the same in coming days or weeks.

RATIONALE FOR THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION
The Proposed Acquisition is in line with the B-Land Group’s geographical
diversification and revenue expansion. The luxury hotel segment in Iceland is expected
to grow and the Proposed Acquisition will enable the B-Land Group to enter this
segment with strategically located hotels in the heart of Iceland as well as certain
hotels being operated under the Hilton brand name.
5. EFFECTS OF THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION
The Proposed Acquisition will not have any effect on the issued share capital and
substantial shareholders’ shareholdings of B-Land. There will be no material effect on
the net assets and earnings of the B-Land Group for the current financial year ending
30 June 2020. The Proposed Acquisition is expected to contribute positively to the
future earnings of the B-Land Group.
The composition of borrowings and internal funds to fund the Proposed Acquisition
will be determined at a later stage.

6. INDUSTRY OVERVIEW AND FUTURE PROSPECTS
6.1 Iceland's economy is anticipated to grow by about 2% annually over 2020-
2022. After a decade of rapid growth, with visitor numbers increasing 5-fold
since 2010, the tourism sector directly accounts for about 9% of Iceland's
gross domestic product (“GDP”). However, the WOW Air's bankruptcy may
affect the Icelandic economy as the airline accounted for about 23% of tourist
arrivals to Iceland in 2018.
Iceland has a low population of about 360,000 and a GDP of about USD26
billion. Iceland is ultimately dependent on developments in terms of trade, with
its economy concentrated in the tourism, marine and metals sectors.
6.2 The Icelandic Krona exchange rate has remained relatively stable in recent
months, despite the weakening economic outlook. However, it depreciated by
about 10% in the months after the WOW Air's issue. Given the weaker
outlook for exports, Krona is forecasted to depreciate in 2019. This could help
improve price competitiveness, which suffered in recent years when the Krona
appreciated significantly as the balance of payments strengthened.
6.3 The boom in Iceland’s tourism in recent years is arguably the single most
important factor in Iceland’s recovery. The annual number of visitors has
grown by a factor of five since 2010 from 459,000 to 2.2 million. The rise of
tourism has also led to more efficient use of resources since the industry has
grown faster in other seasons than the summer. That is clearly illustrated in
hotel utilisation rates which have jumped in the winter months since 2010.
Over the past year or so, there has been rising evidence that the boom in
tourism is slowing down significantly. The slowdown in tourism is in many
ways welcome after years of double digit growth. The labour market is tight
and there is a housing shortage. In light of that, slower tourism growth can
moderate the labour market and prevent a further housing shortage.
Furthermore, the number of visitors is in some places having negative
environmental impact which calls for investment in broad tourism
infrastructure.
6.4 There are several reasons for this dip in growth. An important reason is
capacity constraints such as lack of accommodation, as seen in the
exponential growth of Airbnb accommodation over the past 3 to 4 years and
the fact that Reykjavík has some of the highest hotel occupancy rates in
Europe. Other factors such as a slowdown in growth of international flights to
Iceland have also had effect.
6.5 Finally, price increases in tourism related services and a 24% appreciation of
the Icelandic Krona in the last five years are putting a lid on the growth.
Iceland is now among the most expensive destinations in the world, reflecting
the market forces of supply and demand at play. This has halted the tourism
boom and created challenges for the tourism sector.

bjland and umobile can do this too... vt linked

From left: Maxis chief enterprise business officer Paul McManus, Maxis CEO Gokhan Ogut, Gamuda Land CEO Ngan Chee Meng and Gamuda Land COO Aw Sei Cheh.

KUALA LUMPUR: Gamuda Land and Maxis have formed a strategic partnership to appoint Maxis as the preferred connectivity and solutions provider to create Malaysia’s first Maxis-delivered 5G township for Gamuda Cove.

Both parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Maxis to provide and deploy 5G network infrastructure and services in Gamuda Cove, Gamuda Land’s latest township development.

Under the MoU, Gamuda Land will also be working with Maxis to fibre up parts of Gamuda Cove with its high-speed broadband connectivity.

This partnership will also see both parties exploring the smart city and smart retailing solutions across all Gamuda Land townships in Malaysia, the companies said in a statement today.

“We definitely see technology as a key enabler in driving a smart and sustainable environment into the future but a smart city is not only about cutting-edge technology. It is about smart planning ahead and visualising long-term growth for our townships,” Gamuda Land chief executive officer Ngan Chee Meng said.

Maxis chief executive officer Gokhan Ogut said the company’s commitment is to cater to the evolving digital lifestyles of everyone by reaching even more individuals, homes and businesses through its capabilities in converged solutions.

“This is an important partnership as we unlock the immense potential and possibilities of next-generation technologies and smart solutions,” he said.

The partnership comes on the back of a previous collaboration in 2018 where Maxis provided a customised MaxisOne Home fibre plan for Gamuda Land’s twentyfive.7 township in Kota Kemuning, Selangor.

Maxis has long started its 5G journey, assessing the technology and conducting demo trials in its test lab over the last few years.

In March this year, Maxis emerged as the first to commence 5G live trials in the country to provide a deeper analysis of 5G characteristics, including the use of spectrum in higher bands. - Bernama

Lol...Orang Malaysia mudah lupa...Let us repeat on how Uncle Tan & family sets it up..Step 1 - 3 almost done?

Step 1 - He’ll “shake out” the little guys by forcing the stock lower in order to get a better price..

Step 2 - By keeping the stock low and depressed, he discourages other people from buying it and induces more short selling by day traders. He may with associates, by various means, spread bearish reports on the stock. All this helps him to buy. When he is thus buying and selling to accumulate..

Step 3 - Using this method, Uncle Tan & associates will accumulate a large enough position to effectively remove almost ALL would-be sellers from the market. (Now mostly left long term & value investors so only buy if u don't need the extra cash from 6 months to a year)

Step 4 - The stock is prepared for the ‘mark-up.’ It is ready to go up as soon as he is willing to allow it.” or when the good news he is expecting in the coming months to 2020?

More to come...

step 5 continued - holy sh*t, how come only institutional investors with ZERO retail investors to mati despite all the "great deals" --- crying BURSA/SC after ZERO retail participations
