All burnt carbohydrate got acrylamide one loh, examples are your pizza, roti canai, French fries, etc. The antidote is drink more tea containing polyphenols.
"Recent research published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry found that several nutrients guard against the damaging effects of acrylamide– including those in tea (polyphenols), red wine (resveratrol) and garlic (diallyl trisulfide)."
I don't hold hup seng shares but if you dump your hup seng biscuit into waste basket and then in the evening eat roti canai or Mc donald with super sized french fries with your buddies, you are very ill informed.
" The highest mean acrylamide concentrations were found in coffee substitutes (818 pg/kg) followed by instant coffee (358 microg/kg) and then roasted coffee (179 microg/kg). One single cup of coffee (160 ml) delivered on average from 0.45 microg acrylamide in roasted coffee to 3.21 microg in coffee substitutes. "
This can cause long term effects with chronic diseases . Those concern about the risk will stop eatin for sure. or eat less.
So just how serious is acrylamide exposure? In 2005, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that acrylamide in foods may be of public health concern and further noted that acrylamide “may be responsible for up to one third of all cancers cause by diet”.
Acrylamide: A Triple Threat To Your Health Researchers believe acrylamide causes damage in three ways:
It reduces the body’s production of phase 2 enzymes which detoxify toxins and disarm carcinogens. This includes glutathione, your body’s most important antioxidant and detoxifier. Acrylamide also affects the endocrine system, altering your delicate balance of hormones. Over time this can lead to cellular mutations and dysfunction. It acts as a genotoxic, neurotoxic and cytotoxic agent, directly damaging genes, neurons and cells.

Seen the news but don't understand why they use "may" & "could" in their so called cancer causing substance press release. If the ones who are doing the test/research are ascertain that the result they get is accurate/genuine they should use "will" instead of the aforementioned. Seems like they put the blame on Palm Oil, so are they lobbyist for anti-palm oil?
I bet ask them try to test all the Malaysia food and see the result, curry, laksa, ikan bakar, syrup bandung, all are lemak oil and fats or extreme salty or extreme sweetness. That is more hazardous food. these pieces of biscuit caused you cancer , you believe? We don't know what is their motive behind.
