KUALA LUMPUR: Protasco Bhd’s Federal Road Maintenance (FRM) concession, which expires this month, has been extended for 10 years, according to sources.

Sources told The Edge Financial Daily that the FRM concession, covering 7,000km of roads in Terengganu, Kelantan, Selangor and Pahang, is expected to contribute a recurring income of up to RM250 million annually for the next 10 years.

“The routine maintenance work will contribute a recurring income of RM130 million a year, while the periodic maintenance and emergency works will bring in additional RM100 million to RM120 million every year, depending on the actual work being carried out,” a source familiar with the concession said.

It is learnt that the concession renewal has been given to Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd, the maintenance unit of Protasco. The concession is slated to expire in February 2026.

Meanwhile, sources said Protasco is also likely to receive a contract extension to undertake routine and periodic maintenance works for the state roads in Terengganu for the next seven years.

Previously, Permint Granite-HCM Sdn Bhd, another unit of Protasco, had been awarded a seven-year contract worth RM188 million, which will be expiring in July this year.

Yesterday, Protasco announced a net profit of RM20.2 million for the fourth quarter of financial year 2015 (FY15) ended Dec 31, 2015, compared to a net loss of RM4.07 million a year ago, mainly driven by its construction segment.

Quarterly revenue inched up 15.7% to RM455.89 million from RM393.91 million, with improvements marked by contributions from it maintenance, construction and property development segments.

For the full FY15, net profit stood at RM66.24 million, compared to a net loss of RM46.44 million a year before. Revenue, meanwhile, was 21.7% higher at RM1.29 billion from RM1.06 billion in FY14.

Protasco expects to maintain its performance despite signs of economic weakness globally, and the challenges expected for the construction and property development industries.

“We expect to see the construction division continue to contribute positively to the bottom line with the award of Phase 2 of [the] Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1Malaysia project,” executive vice-chairman and group managing director Datuk Seri Chong Ket Pen said in a separate statement.

Their property arm, De Centrum Development has a lot of issues on hand. The newly completed De Centrum attracted lots of complaints from their buyers. More than half of total units have defects, (check the De Centrum owner facebook in the internet). I juz found Prtasco is much better than Gadang, coz the former has IUKL, an education arm which has broke even n started to make money.

And then 10 yrs road maintance contract, u know la, Malaysia road here broken there broke, plus more and more cars, more and more mat rempits, means more maintainance lo.

Gadang only got rapid and a few acres of plantation, Gov keeps demanding dividend from Petronas, where got money to do capex.

楼上，您评的没错。protasco公司没有问题，所以当”打工仔张吉平”苦苦哀求投资者tpy和ooi收购protasco时，两个见义勇为华人民族意识热血沸腾的企业家就看上protasco潜质和股息，和您一样看法，投了。

那是在前老板”tun daim"法眼严管之下。生意和股息操作健全。

张吉平被新老板解放后，不但没有好好经营（记得公司是固定合约concession, 功劳狗屁不通和张根本扯不上边。查看bursa 2004-2012年张吉平”鲁莽行事虎头蛇尾的投资项目”，可谓全军覆没，亏了上亿功课。syria, lybia, hai nan, 等等，个个几千万元亏损，没看公司”人格谋杀，告他吐出来还公司填他的坑”？会看门的未必会经商。管银行的未必是开银行的。两码事。

Protasco是固定合约公司，谁看管都不会影响生意。张吉平一个会欺骗老板，为了得到protasco有没脸没皮公平向老板收购股权，嫁祸陷害恩人以骗取公司控制权的动物，人人都可以诛之。造路的人材比比皆是。问题不是公司，是一个人格障碍张吉平。贪得无厌。忘恩负义，恩将仇报的畜生，如果是负责任的，贪污贿赂私吞公款，早该认罪辞职。

且看后tun daim时代的protasco。张吉平蒙骗董事会，没有呈报他私下交易合约，翻了法。后来又撒谎发誓签了SD, 目的是陷害他的两个老板，以为可以制造谣言，利用protasco（投资者的钱），人格谋杀，加罪。试问他的老板相信他，买了公司以为他会好好看管，本身都没有”进董事局”。张老千不但没有感恩，用1年半的时间，“拖垮投资项目”以达到“嫁祸于人的目的”，夺权吃了protasco. 张老千对外办可怜，公司却从tun daim 时代“professional bhd"变成"father and sons sdn bhd", 股东大会时问问他“多少王亲国戚”混入了公司。这个事实过程，没有小心研究，表面的功夫可以唬弄老百姓，冷眼当年扯的原因，必定大有文章吧。可猜一二。

再解剖protasco的虚假信息，如果protasco没有被亏空，金钱被张老千滥用来对付他的恩人希望“埋没了他们救了张吉平”的记录。何必这里假派利息，那里发新股“筹资”冲稀您的股权和利益呢？稍微做点功课就会发现端倪。

这些还只是表皮。骨子里张吉平自己贪污贿赂犯罪活动，是姑息的几十倍账款，您知道吗？东窗事发时，十个protasco陪了不够还。张骗子一天在滥用职权挥霍犯罪，漂亮的气球泡沫破灭之后可能是真相大白的时候了。且看下回分解。

I don think prostaco involve in MRT or highway tender. Prostaco specialize road maintenance and is its key earning driver, which it alrdy secure another 10 yr extension, it also involve in property development and education field.

When you choose a company to invest, you pick company that has potential, a game changer. This company is no game changer. Just doing road patch up. They turned into property development. Trying to do in a big way with their maiden commercial development, the De Centrum or rather now it is the De Rectum. That what most of the resident units and SOHO buyers are calling. They are so frustrated and felt cheated by the shoddy workmanship, steep entrance slope, building that resemble a low cost flat from the inside and defect after defect in the individual units. Now can they achieve the promised dream of turning the whole location into a city development sought by investors. Many of the existing buyers grieved and vow not to touch any of their future property development.

yes i read protasco in 2014 won/built an overtaking lane in Sarawak; so potentially they maybe indirectly involved. also read last year their md stating they were targetting to be involved in pan borneo -so far no further progress...
