5090 the market price slides may be because 5090 unable to renew its 'shariah compliant' status, don't worry this is not a serious matter. Further more one of the majority share holder Mr. Tiong buyback the shares. What is 'shariah compliant status'? pls tell me.

But as I know maybank said there wasn't any shariah compliance fund house holding the 5090. I wonder where did the sell off come from. Shariah compliant status is set by the Security commission of Malaysia to attract Islamic investors from Arabian countries. If the share is shariah compliant which means the business of the company doesn't involve in gambling business, alcohol , Tobacco and etc not Islamic complaint biz, then those funds from Arabian countries can invest into the share. So now in this case Media Chinese is not complaint with shariah law due to its Rm500 Million loan. It's not a Islamic loan.

Agreed. 5090 is the Monopoly player in the market! Yes although younger generation read less, but everyday i saw those condolence notice, or some one get congrats by buying or getting a dato, i would not worry about 5090!

Haha.. Why would he do that? It depends on how much he sells for his HK investment.i don't think he will do capital reduction in the future. Now mediac has RM 500million debt to serve. Hope they will issue their corporate bond soon and lower down the interest payment.

Down mean good to buy. DY should be above 5%(assuming final dividend 3sen or base on last 3years pattern) or more than FD rate. Media stock should continue to do well next year.
