let's say the company is actually worth more than 0.57. then why don't the owner (super tycoon) just privatize the company with his own money? instead of doing buy back with the company's left over cash? company current asset's is less than total liabilities from what I checked. won't that act put the company into a much difficult situation with increased debt?

Most times its due to promises the Vendor/s gives out to "Others" to buy big blocks of shares.
Now these share owners are suffering low price and will bang table and remind majority owners aka Vendor/s on "promises" now deemed empty. 😁

Smart feller will do something to help like say share buy back.
Who wants people banging on your table all the time?

after that Vendor/s will be left alone. At least he tried. 😁

NBV is just one of the methods and not the only method for valuing the shares of companies. Most companies have higher market price than NBV, except those unwanted penny stocks due to corporate governance issues, no real business, etc.

BJFOOD had in recent year embarked on outlet expansion. Another round of impairment losses to close unprofitable outlets? Wooing an irrational crowd bent on misguided boycott is an impossible goal. The attrition is permanent for many segments. Gives rise to competitor opportunity, and if well executed will continue to eat away market-share.
