WINDOW DRESSING?

Setiap kali pada hari terakhir penghujung bulan Jun mahupun bulan Disember akan terjadi apa yang dinamakan sebagai Window Dressing kepada kaunter-kaunter yang tertentu dalam Bursa Malaysia.

Apa itu Window Dressing?

Window Dressing ini sebenarnya bertujuan untuk mencantikkan Penyata Kewangan sesebuah syarikat itu. Ini kerana kebanyakan syarikat mempunyai pegangan saham di dalam penyata akaun mereka.

Jadi harga saham yang rendah dalam pegangan pasti akan menjejaskan kedudukan kewangan syarikat bila Penyata Kewangan ditutup pada penghujung tahun itu. (Ada syarikat penyata kewangannya berakhir pada bulan Mac, bulan Jun, bulan September atau bulan Disember tetapi bagi kebanyakan syarikat ianya adalah pada bulan Jun dan bulan Disember)

Oleh yang demikian bagi tujuan mencantikkan kedudukan Penyata Kewangan itu maka usaha menaikkan harga saham pegangan mereka itu akan dilakukan pada hari terakhir atau hari penutup penyata kewangan tersebut. Window Dressing ini tidak berlaku kepada saham-saham pegangan syarikat yang telah naik harganya kalau dibandingkan dengan tahun yang sebelumnya.

Selalunya keesokan harinya harga saham yang naik sebelum itu akan dibuka rendah kembali kepada harga asalnya sebelum ia ditolak naik.
