Telcos are facing challenging times 1) the new spectrum fees will be known by Aug 2) the refarming of 4G bands will take place in 2017.
Thus there is another "unknown" next year. This issue alone will affect the telco's ability to pay dividends not even taking into account the price war n competiton they are facing.
In a way, that is why we are seeing the prices of telcos dropping n is also an opportunity to buy. But we can't foresee how low they will drop before stabilizing. You must have a lot of cash in order to hold them for the long term. You must be able to stand the stress of seeing their values drop due to the vagaries of the stockmart. Which is how markets behave.

And Junichiro , why I checked all over the reports , cannot find a part show a company cash rich info ?
actually where you guys check the company cash rich situation,
example many people claim POS is a cash rich company, but do you know where they checked
from Bursa website , or company website ?

Actually fr their financials. If the company has huge borrowings when compared to its capital base n reserves, it is highly leveraged. Maxis is highly leveraged. When Maxis was listed, it started borrowing to gear up its balance sheet so that it has an optimum level of debt n equity. But over-borrowing means that you have less room to maneuver if something unforseen happens like the sudden announcement by gomen to auction its spectrum.

when people comes to know that telco revenue is mainly based on monthly sub fees ARPU, they will start to know that Revenue is pretty intact year in year out...probably a 5 to8 % increment if their total subscribers grow. What other business now is better than Telco will almost sure profitability intact... a PE of 15 to 17 is a very Fair value

ARPU of Maxis rise in face of losing subscribers. It means their customers which are revenue generating did not port out. It is only one segment of customers which are not generating much revenue ported out.

Gomen here increase spectrum fees. Other countries also try to other means to milk the telcos dry. Having regional footing does not necessarily shield the telco. Prospects for all telcos not good.
