KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — Exports of rubber glove is expected to increase further amid the emergence of the Omicron Covid-19 variant and Malaysia will ensure a sufficient supply to the world, protecting its market, said the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC).


Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said the variant has not spread into the country but it has affected several countries abroad.

“As we are the main producer of this product, we have seen the export of rubber gloves increase when the world (and our country) is hit by this pandemic.


“This is because of the nature of low supply and high demand, hence we experienced good sales,” she told Bernama after attending a Bernama Bulletin interview programme on Bernama TV in conjunction with the Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) 100 Days.

HONG KONG: Existing Covid-19 jabs will struggle against the Omicron variant and it will take months to develop a new shot that works, the head of US vaccine manufacturer Moderna has told the Financial Times.

Stephane Bancel told the newspaper in an interview published Tuesday that data would be available on the effectiveness of current vaccines in the next two weeks but scientists were not optimistic.

"All the scientists I've talked to ... are like 'this is not going to be good'," he told the newspaper.

Bancel's warning came as G7 health ministers held emergency talks on the new variant, which is spreading around the world and prompting nations to close their borders once again or impose fresh travel restrictions.

Pretty much now depends on omicron news. Can see in the afternoon once Moderna CEO talked then sudden price spike around 14:00. Of course Moderna CEO has his intention, but can see more bumps ahead not that straight forward in short term.
Guess the SBB. And HK IPO will be next year, timing is also important.
