With the reduction in borrowing rates, consumers like us will be able to see a hike in their disposable income due to the reduction in interest payments. In other words consumers will have more cash on hand to spend, which will likely spur the domestic economy.

So ....we can invest more in stock perhaps ....selective quality stocks of own preferences....spur the economic cycle perhaps.

The OPR (overnight policy rate) is determined by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) on a variety of factors and serves as a guide for local banks to determine their own lending rates, both to each other and to the consumer. ... This means both a lower repayment amount over the same loan period or the same repayment over a shorter period.

Why did BNM reduce the OPR?

The OPR was reduced to help cushion the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Movement Control Order, while necessary to contain the spread of the virus, has also constrained production capacity and spending. Labour market conditions are also expected to weaken considerably. Economic conditions alike.

However, fiscal stimulus measures, alongside monetary and financial measures, will offer some support to the economy. The OPR reductions, are see
and expected to complement these measures.

BNM expects things to improve. Thats why OPR is further reduced with the aim to contain and improve the present economic downturn for better..
