Fgv is syariah compliant:)

TOKYO: Investors looking for a safe haven in turbulent financial markets should consider Islamic equities, according to a recent study.

Restrictions on debt and the diverse investment goals for syariah-conscious shareholders could help provide a shelter in a time of crisis, academics including Sohel Azad of Melbourne’s Deakin Business School wrote in the November issue of the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money.

There are also differences in Islamic market structure that mean assets might be slow to respond to the effect of a downturn, they indicated.

“The interplay of these three forces can allow Islamic indices to behave differently from conventional ones, especially during a financial crisis, making them a good hedge,” the authors wrote.

“We suggest that during major economic and financial crises, investors could use Islamic stocks to diversify their risks.”

Investor interest in Islamic finance is growing and the global Islamic banking and finance industry had more than US$2 trillion in assets at end-2017, according to the Islamic Financial Services Board. The study defined syariah-compliant indexes as excluding firms involved in non-Islamic finance, gambling, tobacco and entertainment, as well as those with debt-to-market value ratios above 33%.

The authors analysed the performance of the Dow Jones Islamic Index relative to a number of developed and emerging-market equity benchmarks over a 15-year period from 2000. The authors found “strong support” for Islamic stocks as a haven during crisis periods.

During the financial crisis, Islamic shares acted as a strong haven in particular for investors in the MSCI Europe Index, MSCI Asia Pacific Index and French, Hong Kong and US markets, they said. — Bloomberg

I opine the presenting of White Paper on felda is for tackling the internal issue only. What about external issue (most important) - Sales - where is our country heading to..........

Most of the hardcore people from the rural areas will join in the icerd to raise their frustration of PH Government for not taking care of them, especially the felda settlers who bought the FGV IPO shares. Now the shares are worthless and unless good news announced after Azmin tabled the white paper!

Oil palm like other commodities e.g. crude oil, is cyclical. Reached bottom and then rebound

Sabah state govt as one of major shareholders of fgv really think hard to increase the use or demand of palm oil. Well done.

We will increase the palm oil content in diesel in stage like Indonesia, already 25%. We are still below 10% now. Malaysia and Indonesia are curbing new supply but trying hard to increase demand/usage, rebound will be very soon :)

How abt Sime Plant takeover FGV? There are people who speculate Bakke Salleh better as new CEO. However Felda name will be gone. Since Felda is associated with BN so never mind?

News on high stock piles. That is why i said sales - external issues (most important). Under the present scenario, even govn allow policy of change of Malay CEO to chinese, I doubts whether China are interested as it seems that we are not keen on 1 belt 1 road and the base have apparently moved to Singapore. All this depends on our Big boss where our country is heading to.

FELDA has yet to pay the settlers cost sara hidup for few months due to lack of fund ...FELDA anytime can dispose FGV in huge volume which can lead FGV to become anything between 0.50 - 0.60 or even lower

Palm oil is not crude oil .. it take years to get palm oil why the tree needs to grow … eventually with the price will go up … just be patience …the only risk here is the big institution screwing up us … other than that I don’t see any risk at this point of time .. Monday I hope we can get some clarity ..
