The question is whether Next Generation Oil (the lessee) can pay the lessor (Bplant) that rental amount as there is no assurance that this algae business is viable.

I hope i’m wrong…but if this algae business fails.. its very likely all 1,040 to 1,286ha of oil palm trees at the leased area would have been felled for this project and Bplant better make sure they can recover back all the losses from Next Gen Oil as this would so costly for them to replant back these area with new oil palm trees.

I doubt there is viable commercial venture in algae for biofuel. Why waste time and resources in something not proven viable ? I must say that Bplant's Management simply set the priority wrong! There are so much more to do to improve production effeciency as Bplant yield per ha and return per ha is one of the lowest in the industry.

Guys, u guys have to read the announcement clearly. It’s a 30 yrs land lease agreement to the Algae oil company. Bplant by no means a party of this Algae oil venture. It’s only a landlord. Given labour insufficient to harvest all FFB, it’s a good arrangement to have fixed income to hedge against CPO price drop in future.

Algae oil cultivation ? very skeptical on this commercial application. Companies that venture into other non palm related fields eg. Coffee, stevia , rubber wood, cash crops all backfired and resulted in investment write offs. This sort of projects are all labour intensive and without the right business models all failed. Looks good on paper and theory.

BOUSTEAD PLANTATIONS BERHAD ("BPB" OR "THE COMPANY")CONDITIONAL LAND LEASEAGREEMENT ENTERED BETWEEN BPB, CIMB ISLAMIC TRUSTEE BERHAD AND NEXT GENERATIONOIL SDN BHD ON THE PROPOSED LEASING BETWEEN 1,040 TO 1,286 ACRES OF LAND INTELOK SENGAT ESTATE.

SO FOR BPLANT TO JUST RENT RM1,210 AN ACRE WITHOUT NEED TO DO ANYTHING IS JUST SO VERY GOOD IF DEAL REALLY GOES THROUGH

No a big deal to rent out 1,040 TO 1,286 ACRES.
Note: 1 hectare is 2.471 acres

This is one form of monetization of Bplant's assets as explained before by Bplant's Management.

U all know how to interpret the deal or not ??

The land deal give more than Rm 16m of rental income pa...if u take a yield of 5% pa net....that will mean the land is valued rm 300k per acre mah!

Their plantation land the best can fetched Rm 70k per acre mah! Also profit from plantation best can do is about Rm 3m pa mah!

They are short of workers & the palm trees are old & due for replanting mah! That means worker here can be redeployed to other more productive plantation mah!

Now this algaes cultivators came & offer to rent this land for 30 years & thus Bplant save another Rm 20m on replanting cost mah!

This is a very good deal mah!

Lu tau boh?

Moving forward the trend is in bio-fuel, save Mother Earth.

Location of the said land is near to Pasir Gudang Port & near to Singapore and all logistic costs, etc are strategic.

There will be bulk handling and so on and so all parties win as they would have looked into the new business model in all angles to see it is viable and feasible.

Can pay or cannot pay is a separate story. The land size is not tht huge, but the rental income it’s going to contribute 10% to income, changes from variable income to fixed income.

Thts y I m saying it’s a good deal as it hedge against any risk of CPO price reductions… it’s locking part of bplant profit…

I suspect Bplant will take a stake in the venture to be announced later. This intention has been announced by the group CEO months ago . Let's keep an eye on this 'negative' development.

They will only take a stake only after seeing the venture is highly profitable.

Why should they participate during high risk start up time leh ??

They already has a stake, bcos the land the rent out will appreciate from rm 70k per acre to Rm 300k per acre, when the project kick start mah!

A lot of concerns is good.

A lot of worries is not good.

Even at its present moment & future, Bplant is riding on strong profitability.

The yield from renting the plantation land is 21% pa basing on their book value cost of Rm 70k pa....this return is even higher than most IPP return loh!

In addition Bplant unlike IPP , do not even need to spend anything on capex loh!

The income & profit generated here is so powerful, that it is equivalent or more superior compare to a mini IPP loh!

CPO Sept spot $4,700/-. Higher ASP plus higher 3rd qtr production and yet plantation stock price is down . I can’t understand the Malaysian stock market dynamics anymore.

Actually wht is the issue for stagnant share price? With CPO price increase, profit/dividend yield will be higher. Patience is the key…
