CGS International Research sees the acquisition of Ranhill as giving YTL Power exposure to Johor’s water sector, renewable energy (RE) opportunities, and a foothold in Sabah’s tight electricity market.

Apart from the Johor water concessions, Ranhill has gas-fired power plants in Sabah and a 50mw solar farm in Bidor, Perak. It complements YTL Power’s water and sewerage concession in the UK and electricity producer YTL PowerSeraya Pte Ltd in Singapore.

“The purchase of a controlling stake in Ranhill allows YTL Power to ease further into the data centre play in Johor. Water is critical for data centres and Ranhill is a key beneficiary because it has the monopoly over water in the state,” a banker says.

Ranhill, via its subsidiary Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd, is Johor’s sole water operator. According to its 2023 annual report, Ranhill SAJ operates 46 water treatment plants, with a total water capacity of 2,171 million litres per day.

Maybank Investment Bank actively accumulate Ranhill shares, showing huge upside ahead. Maybe will upgrade Ranhill target price to RM3.00 after MGO end.

over here amore is so pandai . nya.
they privatized all utilities biz except water.
Why? water as raw material is 100% FREE!

RANHILL makes $2.50 minimum per m3 from the global city of DC.

1 MW data centre = consumes 25,500 unit or m3 p.a. on average.
could be higher usage rate as JB is hot thru out the year.

Evaporative cooling is a highly efficient approach to data center cooling. Evaporative cooling consumes about ¼ as much power as mechanical cooling (commonly known as air conditioning). Evaporative cooling can be so efficient because most of the energy for cooling comes from the ambient air.

INVESTORS, [2024-07-06 2:30 AM]
Corporate KPI: the KING must be impressed.,.
king paid so MUCH in RANHILL u know, yes or YES.,.
++++++++++++++++++++++++

THIS IS THE CONVERSION FACTOR OF
Water to BIG money in JB = RANHILL,

RANHILL makes $2.50 minimum per m3 from the global city of DC.

1 MW data centre = consumes 25,500 unit or m3 p.a. on average.
shd n could be higher usage rate as JB is hot thru out the year.

NB: no H2O from RANHILL = no DC in global city of DC!

Water is more efficient and cheaper than air to cool machines and equipments. Some places may opt for air cooling if lack of water supply.

Air cooling is cheaper so coming next water will be reduced and Ranhill back to 1.00⬇️🩸

Posted by StartOfTheBull > 2 days ago | Report Abuse

Air cooling use fans, in turn more electricity need to be used and more costly. Water is cheaper than electricity.

Great thing about Ranhill is that...its actually selling its water to international market (USD) by supplying to DC.

The weak MYR coupled with cheapest water price in the region shows how big the potential is....Singapore DC market will all move to Johor.

liquid cooling is a technology where coolant is used as a intermediary medium to takeaway heat from DC and then pumped to heat exchanger to transfer back the heat to water.....

water is the greatest heat remover with the cheapest capital investment and operational cost

the pouring investment of DC at Johor in the first place is because of cheap water source
