Sensitivity Test on rate of water usage by DC

1 metric from TA Securities Research is,
1 MW data centre, using a traditional cooling process can potentially use 25.5million litres of water each year
= 25,500 unit or m3 p.a.

TIS a std 3 math exam Q.
Suppose in 2 yrs time, there r 15 DC with combined power usage of
1280 + 1490 MW = 2,770 MW as 1st phase of DC in JB,
how big in hundreds of million $ p.a., can RANHILL potentially make with new profits of $2.50 per m3?

Please read the link below.
https://pba.com.my/pdf/news/2024/23052024_PBAPP_Rates_RATIONAL.pdf
Look at the above water selling rate.
The selling price of water to Data Centers (DC) at $3.55 per m3
Cost to clean processed water = $1.00
Profit to Ranhill = 3.55 - 1.00 = $2.55 per m3.
How many hundreds of million $ can the profit be per annum ?
These Data Centers required million M3 of water to cool down the system.
Quote from Johor Exco : In the 1st phase, there are 9 + 6 soon and + 30 DC in application process for 2nd phase.
1st phase of 15 DC = 1280 MW + 1490 MW = 2,770 MW to be increasingly consumed in 2 years time.
How much of business profit for Ranhill to supply water to Data Centers ?
According to Google search, a small 1 MW data center requires around 25,500 M3 of water per year.
1st phase 2,770 MW = 2770*25500*2.55 = 180 million per year.
Assume the current existing profit of Ranhill = 62 million.
Total PAT = 242 million.
NOSI = 1297 million shares.
EPS = 0.187 per year.
Current price = 1.45.
PER = 7.75.
Target price at 15 PER = 2.81.
Target price at 20 PER = 3.74.
Good luck.
Thank you.

Johor poised to become regional data centre hub, says MB.

KULAI: Johor has attracted more than 50 data centres within the last two years, putting it on track to become a new data centre hub in South-East Asia, says Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said this was a very exciting time for Johor thanks to its strong push towards a digital economy, enabled by robust government policies, as well as good connectivity and infrastructure.

“Our vision is to develop Johor... and make it a global destination for the world’s largest technology companies.

“At Invest Johor, we are considering establishing the Johor Data Centre to streamline efforts in talent development, green technology and renewable energy,” he said at the launch of Princeton Digital Group's (PDG) phase one JH1 campus at Sedenak Tech Park (StEP) here on Wednesday (July 3).

Onn Hafiz, who is also the Machap assemblyman, said Singapore took over 15 years to establish itself as a data hub with more than 70 data centres, totalling a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts of power capacity.

Onn Hafiz said in comparison, Johor has attracted more than 50 data centres in just the past two years, with STeP 1 alone boasting a power capacity of over 1 gigawatt.

“Moving forward for data centres, the state government will be more selective, emphasising the use of green technology and renewable energy.

“Johor's rapid growth in the industry suggests that it is well on its way to becoming a new data centre hub in Asean,” he added.

Can JB accommodate more data centers?
Quoting JPM, world # 1 largest IB who knows How Biz Can Work BETTER:

“Based on our calculations, water supply will not be an obstacle to setting up a data center in Johor in the next five years.”

JPMorgan also said that Johor can accommodate more than three times the current number of data centers. If the water storage capacity remains stable at 10%, Johor can accommodate up to 5,500 megawatts of data centers by 2028.

“According to our data, by 2028, Johor’s water storage capacity will have expanded to 19%, higher than Malaysia’s 15% target, with room to accommodate more data centres.”

Overall, JPMorgan believes that Malaysia has sufficient water and electricity supply, which makes it well-positioned to develop data centers in Asia."

Translation for the newspaper article posted by NatsukoMishima:

(Kuala Lumpur, 4th July 2024) Since the beginning of this year, Johor has attracted a number of multinational companies to set up data center hubs there, which has raised a new question: Is Johor’s water supply sufficient to meet the needs of data centers?

Analysis by JPMorgan shows that Malaysia plans to add enough water treatment plants to cope with the increasing demand for data centers.

Meanwhile, JPMorgan said that Malaysia has ample water resources, which will avoid short-term obstacles for data centers. However, the bank also pointed out that if the water supply cannot be improved or water supply interruption occurs in the future, this will affect the operation of the data centers.

"By then, water supply may become an issue, creating a situation where data centers compete with Johor household users for water."

JPMorgan pointed out that from 2018 to 2022, Johor's average water storage capacity will remain at around 10%, indicating that the existing water source is sufficient.

According to JP Morgan estimates, Johor's annual water treatment volume will increase by approximately 61 billion liters in the next five years, an increase of 33% compared to 2023.

Assuming an increase in data center capacity of approximately 1,500 MW and a water use efficiency (WUE) of 2.0, it is expected that by 2028, the demand for water will increase by 27.7 billion liters per year, accounting for 4% of Johor's current water consumption.

Taking into account overall water use growth of 3% per year, JP Morgan estimates that by 2028, total water use will reach 851 billion liters per year, with annual water filtering volume of approximately 1 megalitre.

Can accommodate more data centers?

“According to our calculations, water supply will not be an obstacle to setting up data centers in Johor in the next five years.”

JP Morgan also said Johor could accommodate more than three times the current number of data centers. If water storage capacity remains stable at 10%, Johor can accommodate up to 5,500 MW of data centers in 2028.

"According to our data, Johor's water storage capacity will expand to 19% by 2028, which is higher than Malaysia's target of 15%, and there is still room to accommodate more data centers."

Overall, JPMorgan believes that Malaysia’s water supply and electricity are sufficient, giving it good conditions for developing data centers in Asia.

To all Ranhill lovers:

Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd is a utility company responsible for water supply services in Johor. Ranhill SAJ is a subsidiary of the Ranhill Utilities Berhad.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranhill_SAJ

Since YTL Power's holding in Ranhill Utilities is at least 53.19%, it is considered that Ranhill on behalf of YtlPower, supply water to the whole of Johor, including the Sedenak Tech Park, Kulai, Johor.

@PureBULL ...
Thank you for your attention.

The Calvintaneng, claims that the water theme play in Sedenak Tech Park, followed by Nusajaya Tech Park, will be monopolised by Syed Mokhtar's AIRB, and not Ranhill.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/malaysia-johor-data-centres-nvidia-ytl-kulai-sedenak-sez-us-china-trade-war-4310496

Please see the word "Ranhill SAJ" below:

In April, parts of southern Johor reportedly experienced water shortages during the Hari Raya period, prompting the state government to urge the state’s main water supply company "Ranhill SAJ" to deploy water tanks at hotspot areas.

That Calvintaneng always asks people to buy his useless HexCap.

If what he claimed is true, Ranhill will hit limit down already.

But Ranhill rose 14 sen yesterday (3 July 2024), additional 2 sen today (4 July 2024) and will test the all-time high of RM1.75 tomorrow (5 July 2024).

It noted that Ranhill Utilities would give YTL Power access to exclusive Johor water operations allowing it to capitalise on prospects from the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and potential demand from Johor’s data centre hubs. Additionally, it said the synergistic expertise in water operations could drive further efficiency of Ranhill Utilities’ Johor water business.
