this is one recent example why TECHNICAL trader shud not mess with QR release ... look at the bullish candles yesterday !! in anticipation of good QR ??? buy ??? then what happened the next morning ??? ouch, zoomed past cut loss level ??? yes, price may rebound if long-term investors come in to grab at low price ... or bottom-fishing traders help push up .. BUT what if the short-term buying strength is not strong enuf to push price back to your cut loss level ??? at times, staying sideline is also a good strategy .. it's not worth it to take this sort of risk ! what is your tot ? :)

duit ... wud like to share these points with newbies who aspire to be traders and not followers :-
1) do not dabble with high-risk warrants; eg hsi
2) do not mess with counters with lots of controversies; eg fgv
3) do not buy when QR is just around the corner (any bad surprise u may not even have chance to cut at your price !) .. traders are NOT investors who will ride the storm from one bad QR result
4) set cut loss at 1% of your capital to stay in the market long enuf to find your edge (if not any big loss will wipe u out in a blink of any eye)
5) based on point (4), do your position sizing correctly .. eg buy price RM1 and cut loss RM0.95 with capital of RM50K .. u can buy 10,000 shares cuz if u cut loss it will cost u RM500 which is 1% of initial cap of RM50K (note i did not include fees like brokerage / stamp duty / clearing)
6) read up on money management .. fully understand it before u even decide on your trading style (position / momentum / swing)
7) accept that all trading styles have pros and cons .. there is no holy grail
8) stick to your trading style and forget about a hot counter that does not meet your set-up criteria (u don't have to follow the herd)
