KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has appointed Jefferi M Hashim as CIMB Investment Bank Bhd’s chief executive officer (CEO), replacing Datuk Kong Sooi Lin effective March 1.
In a statement today, CIMB said Kong decided to retire after serving CIMB in various capacities for over 25 years.
CIMB said Jefferi, who joined CIMB in September 2017, has over 20 years of investment banking experience in areas such as equity capital markets, debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and various other related financial advisory services.
“Currently, he is the deputy head of the Senior Bankers group and deputy CEO of CIMB Investment Bank,” it said.
CIMB group chief executive Tengku Zafrul Aziz said with Jefferi’s leadership and experience, the group will continue to deliver great value to its customers, build the bank’s investment banking franchise and solidify its position as the leading investment bank in Asean.
“I would also like to thank Kong as she has helped CIMB achieve many major milestones during her term, and helped steer CIMB’s investment banking to where it is today,” he said.
