Analyst predicting CTOS going south due to the court case. But CTOS is heavily linked to BNM... And who the govt to risk bank officers to be brave enuf to lend loan without CTOS?? The govt growth engine will seriously suffer without CTOS I predict. So that court case most likely end up with slap on the wrist only.

rhtc88

True. If you hold some on hand, better sold it all before the appeal court in Jul'24. I can foreseen the court will remain decision and CTOS lose in court case, CTOS will be an end game in Malaysia.

Analyst will tell you one story in public and write a different story for their sharks. As for this court case, it is a no case, the appeals court will throw out the lower court's ruling because the judge could not keep his own opinion to himself. The person who will suffer is the mak cik who won the case, but due to the mulut celupar of the judge, her win will have to be turned into a loss.

I hate to panjang cerita la, but if you have lived overseas for a period of time, you'll know such credit rating agencies are very common and dishing out credit scores IS one of their products. The purpose of their existence IS to circumvent the banks as the main lending institution.

Let see. 5 more court case in a queue. I think no need wait until the rest 5 court case decision, CTOS also be GG in this July.

They will reach a settlement, don't worry. It wasn't a big case

Huge inflow from EPF and KWAP again btw

rhtc88

It's time to run, a red appeared after 6 days straight doji. That's mean CTOS is bearish signal now.

rhtc88

EPF & KWAP buy is due to the dividend purpose. Both of them will start sold it all in June after the entitlement & before the appeal court. No longer become main shareholders. They buy now not because of foreseen how good CTOS future is. Conclusion better Run away before it become more serious. CTOS is a dead counter now. They will become another Serbak in the marking.

Mitchell79

What were you taking about, rhtc88? If they bought for the dividend, they would hold until July 2

rhtc88

The EX date on 31/5, bro. I just need hold my shares till 31/5 then i can entitled to the dividend. That's mean they can sold all of their after 31/5. So that the only reason why they keep buy in the shares instead of confident at CTOS to win the court case.

Mitchell79

Never try that before ... If I sell all my shares after 31/5, will I still get the dividend on July 2 ?

Slowly but surely it has been moving higher. This stock needs alot of patience. Fundamentals are sound. Business model maybe needs a bit of tweaking due to the recent legal case but with large institutional funds behind it, it will trend higher around 1.50. Dividend is too small for large institutions to keep buying so it's another play.

Mitchell79

Actually dividend is too small for retailers as well because the more you buy, the more dividend amount you get. ha

The Court of Appeal (COA) on Tuesday overturned a High Court decision that required CTOS Data Systems Sdn Bhd (CDS) to pay RM200,000 damages to a businesswoman earlier this year.

A three-member bench, led by judge Datuk Lee Swee Seng, in allowing CDS’ appeal, ruled that there was no defamation, no negligence, and no breach of statutory duty by the credit-rating agency.

The bench also ruled that the High Court decision or ruling made earlier this year that gave businesswoman Suriati Mohd Yusoff the damages was erroneous.

In addition, Lee, who sat with judges Datuk Azimah Omar and Datuk Azmi Arifin, ordered Suriati to pay costs of RM65,000.

CDS was represented by Datuk Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, Ashok Kandiah, and Khoo Suk Chyi. They separately confirmed the decision and brief broad grounds to The Edge.

Imtiaz said the decision on Tuesday is an important decision for the credit-rating industry.

Kan I dah kata, the judge was mulut celupar, if his honour kept his opinion to himself, then the businesswomen could've gotten compensation, now because of him, the high court had to throw the entire judgement out.

https://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2024/07/10/ctos-court-win-alleviates-overhanging-business-risk-say-analysts

"This is a positive win for CTOS but we reckon that the market has baked in a victory ahead of today’s court outcome; this is because its price had recovered to RM1.45 a share from a low of RM1.05 a share when the negative High Court ruling was first announced," said Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research in an update.

"That said, before the price plunge, CTOS only managed to reach a one-year peak of RM1.52 a share and most of the time it was oscillating sideways."

The research firm expects the share price upside moving forward to be limited. It reiterated its "hold" recommendation but raised the target price to RM1.60 from RM1.50.

RHB Research, meanwhile, maintained its "buy" call and raised its target price on CTOS to RM1.84 from RM1.77.

"We lower the risk premium given the legality of credit scoring in CRA business is now settled and the dismissal of this dangerous precedent stemming from the initial High Court’s ruling may prevent a floodgate of claims against CTOS," it said in a note.

Kenanga Research upgraded CTOS to "outperform" from "underperform" with a higher target price of RM2 from RM1.15 previously.
