A collection of personal investment ideas and thoughts....

To do that, we need to flip a page of history.   Bezza was officially launched on 21/7/2016 while booking started 5 days earlier on 16/7/2016.   Bezza received a total of 4,028 bookings by its launch date, reached 10,000 within 10 days of booking and hit over 25,000 by 30/8/2016.   To put things in perspective, Perodua Axia was launched in 15/9/2014 with 13,500 bookings but bookings started 30 days earlier on 14/8/2014.    This put Bezza by far as the fastest selling Perodua car as the Bezza's pre-launch booking rate of 806 cars/day, nearly double Axia's booking rate of 450 cars/day.

What about the new Myvi?  Most recent data indicated the new Myvi has 1500 bookings in the first 2 days since booking started on 9/11/2017.  At this rate, this was "even higher when compared against the Bezza", in the words of MD of Perodua Sales, Datuk Zahari Husin.  The third generation Myvi will be officially launched this coming Thursday 16/11/2017, which gives it a 7 days lead.   Nice start indeed, but to really move the needle, the new Myvi will probably need to hit 10,000 bookings by its launch date.   Anything below 5,000 will probably be a disappointment while the likely 7,000-8,000 figure would only be so-so performance.

Provided that the new Myvi's booking breaks new record, shouldn't MBMR's share price follow similar trajectory?

And remember, history may not repeat but it normally rhymes. Beep! Beep! Fasten your seatbelt. Vroom!!!
