Within the next three weeks, the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia will be announcing the winners of the JENDELA Phase 1 tender in Sarawak. Due to OPCOM already spiked almost 1 month and gain more than 100%, thus we may look other oppotunity on this related theme.

Potential benefit companies:

1) ROHAS

a) Rohas has received permission from MITI to operate during the lockdown for one of its subsidiary.
b) Rohas is confident to secure telco tower orders from three work package contractors in Sarawak, as in the past, the company has had contracts for tower fabrication with Sarawak.

c) According to Rohas Tecnic CEO Leong Wai Yuan, the company’s fabrication plants in Bentong, Pahang, are busy fulfilling its contracts for telecommunication towers for Sarawak.

2) OCK

a) Ericsson has been selected as the provider for Malaysia’s nationwide 5G network deployment, announced Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) to launch 5G services by the end of 2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Cyberjaya. It will also launch services in five major cities and districts in Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak by 2022.

https://techwireasia.com/2021/07/ericsson-wins-malaysias-5g-tender-race-to-launch-in-3-states-by-end-2021/

- In this space, we see OCK as a beneficiary, as it could benefit from the construction and management of more telco towers. Given OCK's relationship with Ericsson, we wouldn't be surprised if OCK wins jobs for the 5G network roll-out as OCK being Ericsson’s principal outsourced partner in Malaysia for 15 years and contract wins from Ericsson in Indonesia

2) Base on Kenanga Research - 30 Aug 2021, OCK has already been engaged by DNB to help survey the sites for 5G, which we believe is a potential signal for 5G rollout jobs to come

3) REDTONE

a) Base on Affin Hwang Capital analyst Isaac Chow, 5G rollout via the Jalinan Digital Negara (Jendela) plan, should benefit services providers including REDtone International Bhd due to REDTONE has both network facility provider (NFP) and network service provider (NSP) licences, therefore eligible for both parts of the tender.

b) Base on Kenanga Research - 24 Sept 2021, we gathered that Redtone is currently in discussions with Ericsson regarding the 5G rollout. Having worked with Ericsson to roll out 4G, we believe that Redtone should be able to secure 5G rollout jobs from Ericsson.

PotentialStock Any relation NETX to 5G Tower ?
13/10/2021 10:17 PM

Not directly but indirectly just like Opcom. According to Opcom Ceo Encik Yusree Opcom does not bit for Telco Tower as they only Supply Optic Fibers to Telco Tower Builders (Example like Cement suppliers do not tender for construction jobs)

Binacom & Sacofa (mainly for Pan Borneo, Sarawak), Redtone (mostly rural) are builders of Telco Towers
Rohas is most for Electricity (less fiber optic) & Opcom none directly but at highest pure upstream optic fiber maker.
Netx is the opposite of Opcom (utmost downstream application)

And these were highlights of those times when NFCP Theme were in vogue

Further comments:

Rohas not so much into Optic Fiber Telco Tower but Electricity Tower mostly. Opcom is the supplier of Fiber optics as well as Huawei which undercut Opcom prices (hopefully now no more), Netx is downstream
