AirAsia Bhd become the first low-cost carrier to win the Catering Innovation of the Year at the 2016 Onboard Hospitality (OBH) Awards ceremony held in Hamburg, Germany, recently.

In a statement today, AirAsia said the award was for its Barista in the Skies gourmet coffee products, available only on AirAsia Malaysia flights.

The awards, organised by Onboard Hospitality magazine, recognised excellence and innovation in the industry, as well as, products that have changed the onboard hospitality industry.

Head of Commercial Spencer Lee said the product was a real testatement of the company’s commitment in innovation.

“When AirAsia and T&Co started this service, we knew we were onto something good and this award is proof of that,” he added.
