Brunei: 83-year-old woman dies from Covid-19 complications; 148 new cases confirmed on Sunday (Oct 3)

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 3 : An 83-year-old woman became the latest Covid-19 casualty in Brunei today, which brings the total death toll in the country to 35.

According to the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Md Isham Jaafar at the press conference in the capital, Case 5591 suffered lung problems after contracting the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, 148 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed onn Sunday (Oct 3), with new six clusters, bringing the total number to 7,716.

There are 54 additional new cases to 16 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.

Meanwhile, 58 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

A total of 133 cases have recovered today, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 5,325 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 2,335 cases.

Menawhile, the “OPS Pulih”, a movement restriction operation that will commence Monday (Oct 4) until Oct 17, requires the public to be at their respective residences every night from 8 pm to 4 am.

Exceptions are only given for emergency and urgent matters or those who work as critical frontline workers only, including shift workers.

According to the Minister of Health, anyone in violation of the directive without reasonable excuse may be subject to a compound fine of $100 per person for each offense.
