KPJ Healthcare Bhd's chief financial officer (CFO) Norhaizam Mohammad has received global recognition as Malaysia's Best Emerging Woman CFO in Healthcare at the International Finance Awards 2022. KPJ said the award acknowledged outstanding individuals who demonstrate the spirit of excellence in business leadership within the evolving work environment and current economic landscape. Duopharma Biotech Bhd, via wholly-owned Duopharma Consumer Healthcare Sdn Bhd, has signed a product distribution agreement with South Korea-based stem cell technology company SCM Lifescience Inc to distribute a range of anti-hair loss products in Malaysia. Iroro brand is a halal-certified anti-hair loss products that uses stem cell technology as its active ingredient to create a halal range that caters to the Malaysian market. Yinson Holdings Bhd wants to issue a subordinated perpetual Islamic notes (perpetual Sukuk Wakalah) programme of up to RM1 billion in nominal value based on the Shariah principle of Wakalah BI Al-Istithmar. The energy infrastructure and technology company said the proceeds raised from the issuance will be utilised for its capital expenditure, refinancing of existing financing, future financing, and working capital. ACE Market-listed Securemetric Bhd recently signed a partnership agreement with AVM Cloud Sdn Bhd (AVM Cloud) to collaborate on the delivery of accessible public key infrastructure (PKI) solutions and certificate lifecycle managed services through the AVM Cloud digital marketplace. The event, held in conjunction with the World Congress of IT (WCIT) 2022, was finalised between Securemetric chief executive officer (CEO) Edward Law and AVM Cloud CEO David Chan and witnessed by Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow and the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) chairman Dr Sean Seah. Main Market-listed Pertama Digital Bhd (PDB) announced the resignation of their China-based foreign directors, namely Pan Ding and Pan Dong, from the board effective 22 September 2022. PDB confirmed that both resigning foreign directors do not have any disagreement with the company's directors and have no other matters to bring to the attention of its shareholders. Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd's lower core net profit of RM244.4 million in the six months of the financial year 2023 (FY23) falls below Affin Hwang Capital's expectations. The firm said this was due to weaker-than-expected profits from its pay-TV and home shopping divisions. (NST)

Cosmos Technology International Bhd’s initial public offering (IPO) received a positive response from investors, with its public portion oversubscribed by 58.01 times. A total of 8,328 applications for 756.74 million new shares with a value of RM264.86mil were received from the Malaysian public, representing an overall oversubscription rate of 58.01 times, it said in a statement. PT Resources Holdings Bhd made its debut on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, opened at 37 sen against its initial public offering (IPO) price of 36 sen. The frozen seafood products retailer’s 26.75 million new shares made available for the Malaysian public were oversubscribed by 24.48 times. Former deputy inspector-general of police Tan Sri Mazlan Lazim has resigned from his post as the independent and non-executive chairman of AHB Holdings Bhd, just over seven months after he was appointed. His resignation was "due to other commitments", AHB said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday (Sept 27). The outlook for cash-strapped Sapura Energy Bhd is likely to remain challenging through the financial year ending Jan 31, 2023 (FY23) given the tough operating environment, according to analysts.  It will be an uphill task for the oil and gas service provider to turn around its operations in the near to medium term, amid heightened cost overruns in its projects, besides having difficulty raising funds due to a stretched balance sheet, as it is now officially a Practice Note (PN17) company. Chin Hin Group Bhd’s founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Chiau Beng Teik has added another feather to his cap with his new appointment as non-executive chairman of electrical home appliance distributor Fiamma Holdings Bhd, effective immediately. Beng Teik, 60, is also currently executive chairman of Ajiya Bhd, as well as non-independent non-executive chairman of Chin Hin Group Property Bhd and Signature International Bhd.
