According to the Royal Malaysian Customs website, there will be a RM25 service tax to be imposed on each credit card with the implementation of SST 2.0.

We hereby appeal to Pakatan Harapan Government to reconsider this.

There should be no service tax to be imposed on credit cards for the following reasons:-

(1) It does not achieve the Governments aim of promoting prudent spending;

(2) Most have multiple cards to save some money. Each card has specific benefits and as such will need multiple cards to ensure maximum money saved.

(3) Not in line with government's aim to promote progress towards a cashless society.

In 2009, when BN government proposed SST on credit cards, YB Lim Guan Eng was totally against it. Please see article from the Star:-

YB Lim Guan Eng who is now our Finance Minister should remain consistent.

If you can afford to use a credit card, you should not complain about the RM25. If you do not want to pay it, then stop using. No guns point to your head.

KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP has called on the Government not to implement the proposed service tax on credit card holders, which will cause financial hardship to the poorer segments of society.

DAP secretary-general and Bagan Member of Parliament Lim Guan Eng criticised the move, proposed in the Budget 2010, which is RM50 on each principal credit and charge card and RM25 for supplementary cards.

The policy will push more consumers to borrow money from “ah long” or illegal moneylenders, especially when the country is facing the effects of the global economic slump, he added.
